Recap
A deep voice spoke up next to her, clearing her confusion. "Oops, my hand slipped. Sorry about that."
Luke glared at Julian, fuming on the spot without saying anything. Julian simply crossed his arms across his chest and raised a brow at him. "Do you have a problem?" he asked, calmly.
Julian was a head taller than Luke, and therefore looked down at him with a teasing stare. He was much more muscular than Luke as well, who understood he didn't stand a chance against him and scoffed before walking away.
Julian then turned to face Layla with a cheeky smile on his face, while she simply rolled her eyes at him before walking away from the sound of his laughter behind her. A small smile formed on her lips as well as she thought to herself, He's an idiot. But for some reason, she loved the sound of that.
The Royal Mark : CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Layla covered her mouth as she yawned loudly, leaning over a marbled counter in the kitchen. Her eyes felt heavier by the minute as she waited for her father to wrap up his work, sitting on a stool in the kitchen to be close to him. She found herself smiling when a large hand ruffled her hair in a delicate manner.
"Tired, baby girl?" a gruff voice asked. She nodded once without moving from her spot, making Sir Dunkin laugh. "You can get up now. I'm just going to see the Genskins and let them know we're leaving. I'll be back in a minute."
Although she was comfortable right where she was, Layla hopped off the stool and rose her hands above her head to stretch. She walked towards the main entrance where her father was headed, noticing that most people had already left. The few villagers remaining were shaking hands and exchanging warm wishes with the Genskins.
They seemed like nice people overall, although Luke still gave her the creeps. She had seen him once more during the night, but had been lucky enough as her father called her for help. Julian had also seemed to gone incognito after the incident with Luke.
