Chapter 21
"I thought you were going to text me about dinner last night with Joaquin?", Elvis says interrupting my thoughts as I stare out the window the next day.
I turn around to face him and find him with two cups of coffee in his hands. He carefully lays one on my side of the desk and the other one on his side before he takes a seat.
"Good morning to you, too", I say with a smile raising my eyebrow at him but he only rolls his eyes at me, annoyed.
"Good morning", he finally says after a couple seconds of glaring at me.
"To be fair, I forgot to. I had a good time with him and we talked about many things. It felt nice. I felt... Free", I say as I lean back in my chair smiling.
"This is the first time I have seen you like this", he says astonished and I nod.
"I think- I think I want to try, Elvis. I really want to try. I was thinking of inviting him for dinner at my place tomorrow night", I say.
Last night my emotions were not in check and I felt like I almost didn't want to go with him to dinner but afterwards, I felt a shift inside me. We talked about each other's lives, our friends and family. I watched him talk about his family and the way his face lights up simply by thinking of them for the time, and I loved it.
"Blaise, look at you. I've been waiting to see you like this, three years. There's a genuine smile on your face when it comes to a man. That makes very happy. I think you should invite him for dinner tomorrow night. I know it would make both of you very happy", Elvis says with a huge smile on his face, looking like a proud dad.
"Okay, well it's settled. I'm going to invite him for dinner tomorrow then. Wait, what time is it?", I ask him looking around for my phone before looking down at my watch.
"The meeting's about to start", he says getting up and grabbing his coffee cup.
Elvis and I leave my office and head for the meeting room, a large room with tables aligned next to each other to make a U. I look around the room, finding most of the people who are supposed to be here while others are just making their way in.
"Impress me executive editor", I tell Elvis as I take my reserved spot, he gives me a smile before he heads for the front of the room where the screen is located.
"Good morning, everyone. I hope everyone has had a good start to their day. So starting off, this is the cover for the week. We are saying goodbye to the spring and hi to the summer. Next week's cover will be a whole lot more summery vibes. Anyone has any issues with it?", Elvis asks looking around, everyone nods. "Great, moving on."
We go through the magazine pretty quickly with hardly any trouble and no questions, making it approved and ready to be printed.
"Alright, well that's everything from me. Anyone wants to add anything? Ms. Zabludovsky, anything to add?", Elvis asks me.
