Chapter 10
Sophia dropped me off at my house ten minutes later. When I walk in, I feel like walking into an unfamiliar place. It seems like lately I have spent less time home and going out more instead. I'm not sure if I like it or not yet. I wonder if my parents are concerned about why I have been gone so much. I walk in straight to my bedroom to leave the shopping bags and then to the laundry room to put the dirty clothes into the washing machine. I check the time on my phone to see how much time I have before meeting with Kourtney and Brent. I have fifteen minutes left to make it to the coffee shop so I grab my purse and leave the house.
I know I have to speak with them, especially because they have wanted to talk since last week but I didn't feel like talking about what had happened when I was very shaken up with everything. Even less now with what happened last night with Adam because of Brent but I know I need to talk to them. Plus, I feel like I have been ignoring them since I have been hanging out with Sophia and the boys.
I finally arrive to my destination, the coffee shop looking the same as always. It's located in the downtown area where it's always busy but once inside, it's more like entering a new world and their coffee is pretty good. Once I park my car, I walk into the coffee shop and make my order. I look around the coffee shop for our favorite table and find them already waiting for me. It feels weird seen them waiting for me when I'm the one that usually waits on them. I walk slowly towards them, neither noticing me yet. I wonder why I feel nervous, must be because I haven't seen them since the night of the party. I reach the table and take a seat. They look up at me with expressions I can't read.
"You're late", Kourtney says as she takes a drink of her cup.
"Yeah?", I ask putting my purse away.
"You're never late", Brent says and I can't help but feel annoyed at the moment.
"Well, maybe for once I allowed myself to be late instead of waiting for either of you", I say as I lace my fingers together on top of the table.
"Why are you acting like this? And also did you go shopping?", Kourtney asks confused and sounding like she has been betrayed as she looks at my outfit.
"Acting what way? And yes", I reply to her.
"What? You never go shopping with me. Who did you go shopping with? Was it Sophia? Ugh", Kourtney says upset and hurt.
"Wait, have you been hanging out with them? What the hell?", Brent says giving me a look as if I was crazy.
"Woah, woah, wait. I decided to meet up with you to talk and you guys are interrogating me? This isn't what I met up for. I - I don't have to tell you who I've been with or what I've done... Nor ask for permission from either of you. If you guys are going to be that way, then we can talk another day", I say as I start getting up, fed up with their questions.
"Blaise, no, wait. I'm sorry. We just-", Brent starts as he gets up.
Kourtney has reached for my hand, holding me still.
"I'm sorry. It's just that you never go shopping with me because you're studying or something about school. And then you just go shopping with her", Kourtney says.
