Chapter 24
I hit send on the last email for the day with a little smile on my face. Today has been a pretty good day. After Malik left, I returned back to my office with a very worried Britney waiting for me to talk to her about her and Malik. I told her to not worry about it but that I just thought it was inappropriate for them to be having a moment. I reassured her that she was not going to lose her job due to that but to just never let it happen again. I was inside my office all day working; approving last minute articles, scheduling meetings and going over one of the most important times of the year for The Rose Bold, the fashion show where women's magazines compete for the best line of clothing. I was also constantly getting distracted by Valentina and Alessandra, who created a group chat and were freaking out about the wedding being tomorrow. I turn off my computer just as I hear a soft knock on the door and I respond to them to come in. He first peeks in slowly before Elvis fully walks inside the office with a grin.
"I'm so glad today is Friday. It feels like this week went on forever", he says with a sigh just at the thought of it.
"Tell me about it. It dragged on", I answer him grabbing my belongings and making sure to leave my office clean before leaving.
"You heading to the wedding rehearsal right now?", he asks me as we exit my office.
"Yes but before that, I need to go home to get some stuff. Some clean clothes, personal hygiene items- oh and their gift for the party. All bridesmaids are required to stay the night", I inform him as we enter the elevators.
"Trevor and I are going to go buy a gift. We left it for last minute but we are going to Dante's bachelor party, too", he says.
"I got theirs about a month ago. I hope she likes it", I tell him thinking of Valentina and Dante. When I met them, they were already in a relationship and just by the looks, I could tell this special occasion would be happening in the future and it sure did. "Well, alright. I'll see you tomorrow, sweet cheeks. I have to get going or else I am going to be late. Bye", I tell him and give him a kiss on the cheek really quickly.
"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow. Don't party too hard, okay?", he tells and I laugh.
"How could I? You are taking all the fun with you", I tell him and he laughs.
"Bye, sweet cheeks", he says and we part ways.
It takes me ten minutes to get to my apartment since the traffic is not that bad and I helped the cabman with some shortcuts to get there sooner.
"I'll be right back, sir", I tell him to which he nods and I rush inside the complex.
"Ms. Blaise, there's a package for you", the lobby secretary says as I walk past her.
"A package?", I ask her confused and she nods. "Oh, alright. Thanks", I tell her as she hands me a box. I thank her and continue to rush to my floor with the box in my hands.
Once inside, I grab the duffel bag I left prepared the night before and other miscellaneous things I didn't think would be important but suddenly they look useful. I leave the box on my kitchen's table, not finding it important as I didn't order anything online and I'm not expecting anything from anyone. I decide I'll just open it when I get back tomorrow night. I leave my apartment and rush back downstairs. The drive to the church is smooth and thankfully it is not that far from my place. I get off the cab, putting the duffel bag on my shoulder before someone softly takes it away from me causing me to look over my shoulder to find Joaquin.
