Mrs. Ingimardottin told us the main rules of the Dragon Academy we were about to start for about two whole hours and I am ready to kill myself because sitting here is too boring. Like really boring. The worst part at that is that nothing is happening at the training grounds which means that I also have nothing to look at to ease my boredom. And the best part is that she still is talking.
It took about an hour or two more to finish her speech or whatever this was. But she was done only with the rules...
"Okay. I have told you the rules of this Academy. Please don't ever ever say to me 'but I didn't know that Ms. Ingimardottin' in that whiny voice you all usually try to pull off without succeeding. If there is a new rule made we do have an emergency meeting here with each year students so everyone would be notified of the new said rule. And if someone can't make it to the meeting it is your groups responsibility to pass the rule to you.
Onto the next topic continuing from what I just mentioned. We're going to divide you into groups by six. Tree boys and three girls. I'm letting choosing with who you would want to be in a group only to those who aren't taking dragon riding classes. I will let you divide after the ceremony ends. When you will have a decision on your hand come to my office and inform me on who is in your group with a leader you have chosen. But what goes to the riders - since your classes are really serious and because on how you end this three year course will depend the whole island, we will have a closer eye to who are your possible leaders and how the groups are formed. This year you will have twenty-five groups and that means twenty-five leaders from all of you. So with that I will call out those who we have chosen by strength and leadership and I'm asking you to come out and stay on this stage behind me."
With all the calling we wasted about thirty more minutes. What a surprise. When everybody was on the stage Ingeltore continued with her blabbering. "Now that you see your possible leaders on this stage I will clear their next task." She turned to them. "Your task is to decide who will take which student. I'm going to call out every student and say the most important information you have to know about them. Then by that given you will have to shout your name so I know who volunteers to take the kid. If there will be more than one scream you will have to decide which one of you will take the student. If you won't be able to do that then the decision will go to my hands and I'm saying this right now - I will not give the student to those who volunteered. Another possible thing that can happen is that nobody wants to take the student. Then I will decide which group to give them to. When your group will have three girls and three boys you included then quietly come off the stage and return to your seat. Understood?"
Every leader nodded their head.
"Okay. Now to you" She turned back to the rest of the students seated in the hall. "When I will call your name you will have to stand up. Don't go anywhere else. Just stay at your seat. All you have to do is to remember who your group leader is, because after the ceremony you will have to find your rooms and the doors will have written leader's names on them. Understood?"
Everybody said yes except me "Excuse me?" I raised my hand.
"Yes? Do you have any questions?"
"Yeah, I have one question. What about the dorms you gave us when we moved here? Do we have to move out or...?"
"That's a good question you asked. Look at this clever girl. Why nobody else who are staying at the dorms didn't think of asking this question?" Everyone was looking at me now. Great. Just great. Sure I love attention. "To answer that - no, you won't have to move out. You will have to live with your group only on school days. When you have a free day you are allowed to go back to your dorm if you want to. Or for those who aren't in dorms - back home. Does that answer your question?"
"Yes." I nodded with a small smile.
"By the way. What's your name?"
I was taken aback by her question "Skur Knutdottin."
"Okay. After the group division will end I will make an announcement."
After I sat down she started to call out names of my supposed classmates? When I heard Joreids name being called out I brought my mind back to attention. She wasn't chosen so she was put in a group with a leader whose name was Aerinmus. I hope I will get into the same group but what are the chances? After all there still is one place for a girl. Aish. I hope nobody will be called out and chosen for that spot before me.
"Skur Knutdottin!" Ingeltore shouted. I got up and everybodys eyes were again pointed in my direction. "She is one point eight meters tall and weights sixty-nine kilograms. In school she had really high grades. She actually was at the top of her class. Her biggest advantage is speed and her mind." Ha, you wish. You forgot to say strength. After she told everything about me nobody screamed their name. Joreid was right. Just because nobody knows me nobody would want to take me. "No volunteers? Such a pity. She's a really nice girl. Then I send her to you Aerinmus. With that your group is full."
