Chapter 30

// 3 weeks later //

I woke up to the sun beaming through the blinds of the beach house we had rented for the month while we stayed in California. I removed myself from my bed and walked over to open them and grabbed my clothes to change into, we had all arranged to go to the beach today and if I didn't move now and get into the bathroom I probably would never get in as Michael and Luke's girlfriend's had come over also. 

Rosie was still asleep so I decided to leave her and quickly walked into the bathroom, I had showered the night before therefore I didn't need to this morning. 

I washed myself and put on my beach clothes with my bikini on underneath and packed my towel in the beach bag. 

I opened up the door and stepped out walking straight into Calum who I was still not talking to, "Sorry, I didn't know you were in." He quickly said 

"I'm finished now, don't worry about it." I brushed past him and walked back into my room to put my vans on and wake Rosie up.

"Ella can you help me?" Ashton called, I nodded and followed him outside to the shed with the surf boards and picked one up. 

"Try not injure yourself Ashton." I laughed as he struggled to lift the highest one off the rack. 

"I think out of us all Luke would." He replied laughing. 

Luke had decided he wanted to try surfing aswell so him, Ashton and I were all trying it out. The owners of the beach hut had given us full use to all of the stuff at the house including the surfboards and beach stuff. 

Luckily the beach hut was right on the beach so we ran down to the beach with them and waited for the others to join us. 

Luke came over and picked his board so while he was doing so I went over to Calum and Rosie and pulled out the sunscreen to put it on Rosie. I put a little hat on her head which she hated and pulled it off, "You need to keep this on." I laughed putting it back on. "Can you please make sure she doesn't remove it?"

Calum nodded his head and picked Rosie up, "I'm going to take her down to the water for a while."

"Ok." I nodded as I watched them leave. 

"Ella are you coming?" Ashton shouted as he guarded his eyes from the sun.

"Hold on!" I shouted back as I stripped down to my bikini. 

After Rosie was born I crash dieted so luckily I was thinner than I was before I had her. I never had body issues to be honest, I was always a nice size and I went to the gym regularly so going around in a bikini never bothered me. 

I walked over towards them and clipped the strap onto my right ankle and picked up the surfboard, the three of us ran into the water and started paddling, I laughed as Luke was wiped out almost immediatley but Ashton found his wave and managed to stand up for a little before he fell back. I continued to paddle about waiting for the right wave. 

I spotted one in the distance and started paddling towards it, I dived under the water and resurfaced before standing up and riding the wave smoothly. I finished riding and hopped off before pulling myself back on and staring back out to the beach. 

Luke had given up and was dragging his surfboard back but Ashton was still going. 

Calum on the other hand was in the water playing with Rosie, if we hadn't of had that argument I would've joined them. I hated myself for what I said to Calum and the constant thought of it beat me up every night before I went to sleep, every time I looked at him, every time I heard his voice and every time his name was mentioned. 

I noticed another wave and picked up some speed but my eyes stayed fixed on them, I stood up too late when the time came and the wave struck me. It was harder than I thought, taking my breath away I slipped and hit my head on the surfboard, i felt my body go underwater, my breath was completely gone. I put all of my effort into trying to resurface and when I did i pulled my body onto the board coughing and spluttering. 

Once I got my full breath back I paddled slowly back to shore and unstrapped the belt from my ankle and put my surfboard with Luke and Ashton's who had given up also. 

"What happened to your head? Are you ok?" Michael asked as I walked towards everybody. 

"What?" I questioned as I brought my hand to my temple, I winced as a sharp stinging pain shot through. I brought my fingers away from my head to find they had blood on them, "I just got wiped out it's nothing."

I clutched my chest as a sharp pain hit me, I guess the wave was even harder than I thought. My breath started turning sharp and I quickly turned around, "I'll be back in a minute."

I made my way up to the beach house as fast as I could (Not very fast). I opened the door and walked into the bathroom, collapsing down behind the door. The tight feeling in my chest was becoming undescribably painful and unbearable. Tears streamed down my face as I tried to stand up but the weakness of my body. 

I sat and waited for the feeling to pass, I slowed my breathing and took deep breaths in and out. Slowly the pain started to slow and I regained enough energy to stand up and walk into my room, I put on some clothes as I was still in my bikini and sat down on the ground with my knees at my chest. 

What was happening? Whatever it was I did not like it. 

The door to the little house opened and shut before fast footsteps ran up the hall, "Ella oh my god what's wrong?" Calum shouted running in. 

"I don't know." I tried to say but the pain was still sharp and stopping me from taking proper breaths. 

"Ok, you need to breathe."

"Where's Rosie?" I squeaked

"She's ok, forget about her what's happening with you?"

"I...Calum."

"Speak to me Ella!" He shouted holding my shoulders trying to comfort me. "I'm going to phone an ambulance-"

I quickly grabbed his shoulder, turning him to face me and shispered "I'm sorry."

The pain slowly begin to disappear all together and my full breaths came back, I was sitting next to Calum close to his side with his arms wrapped around my body. 

"Are you ok now?" He whispered, moving my hair away from my face. I nodded my head gently still scared of what had just happened. 

"Calum I-"

"I don't want to hear about it," He smiled "We were both in the wrong and clearly we both need each other, we were grumpy and jet lagged and whatever we said meant nothing, you can have male friends like I have female friends there is no harm in that and I can't stop you! Lets just put it behind us?"

I nodded my head and settled back into his side.

"I think we should maybe tell the others?"

"I would love that more than anything but I think we should wait until the right time." 

I nodded my head in agreement and we stayed in the same position, finally able to hold each other again.
