When they went to Lucas's house his mom ran inside and brought out a yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

"Happy Birthday Lucas!"Everyone yelled.

"Congrads, your finally 16." Leonardo said.

"We didn't throw you a big 'Sweet 16' party. But this is as close as we can get." Mrs.Tathern said.

"No, mom, it's awesome."Lucas said.

Lucas and his friend change so they can go swimming. Lucas, his little brother and his little sister and his mom had fun.

Carvington sat in a chair and looked at the dotted night sky. He started to look sad. "Dude, you okay?" Lucas asked as he sat in the seat next to him.

"Yeah I just miss my parents." Carvington answered.

"Aren't they at home?" Lucas asked.

"No. Before I moved here I had a different life. I always wanted to go to the school that I'm going to now. My parents were having problems if weather we were going to all move here. They both just got a big promotion. They couldn't leave their jobs and they knew I've wanted to go here. So they let me stay down here with my aunt and uncle. It's been 3 years since I've seen them. All I have is this." Carvington took off his necklace and held his arm out while holding it.

His necklace looked like it was made of rope and the pedant was a circle made of wood. The pendant had line that made a swirl. The swirl started at the edge of the necklace and ended in the middle. It had a line that went straight through the middle. Lucas grabbed it and studied it.

"Where did your parents get it?" Lucas asked.

"They didn't buy it, we made it together." Carvington said as he watched Lucas study the necklace. About 20 seconds later Carvington winced in pain.

"Are you okay?" Lucas asked with concern.

"Yeah, can you just hand me my necklace." He said leaning and sounding like he was hiding pain. Lucas handed Carvington the necklace. Carvington winced when he grabbed it. When he put the necklace on he took a deep breath then sat up. He was fine, it was like nothing happened.

"Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." Carvington said as if nothing happened.

"What happened?" Lucas asked.

Carvington opened his mouth and then closed it and looked down. "Nothing." He said still looking down.

"That didn't seem like nothing."

"Look, I'm fine." He said as he looked at Lucas and smiled.

"Okay." Lucas said, finally believing him, "So, I always thought you lived with your parents. But, I never actually met your parents or your aunt or your uncle. I've seen you at school when they were having conferences and you were alone."

"Yeah, I don't really talk about them that much."

"Don't feel bad about it. I don't know who my dad is." Lucas said "Can I meet them?"

"If you came over to house you would have met them."

"Oh. Maybe we should talk about something else."

"Yeah, we could talk about school, homework, books, TV shows, movi-"

"What was it like before you moved here, your life?" Lucas interrupted.

"I don't like to talk about it." Carvington said as his face grew serious.

"I mean besides your neighbor and what he did to you." Lucas said.

Carvington ran his hand through his hair. "He pretty much ruined my life and drowned out any happy moments."

"Sorry I asked." Lucas said. Lucas and Carvington watched the stars for a while. "Is it okay if I go to your house on Sunday?"

Carvington smiled, "Sure. Yeah."

"Leonardo! Carvington! You boys should start calling your parents, it's getting late."Mrs.Tathern said.

"Okay Mrs.T."Leonardo said.

"I walk home. Later Lucas." Carvington said. Lucas went inside.

"Time to go to bed. It's 9:30."She said. "Okay."Lucas and his siblings said. Leonardo got picked up by his mom and then they started to get ready for bed. Once they were in bed Mrs.Tathern tucked Marcas and Lana in.

Hours passed then Lucas woke up. It was 3:05AM. Lucas went outside and sat in a chair by the pool. He heard rustling."Whose there."Lucas said.

"Hey."He heard. It sounded like a girl. Then he turned around and there was a girl behind him. She looked like she was 13 and had brown hair and dark green eyes.

"Who are you?"He asked.

"Hey, I'm Z... Laura. I thought you might remember me. How could you forget your twin sister?" The girl said as if everything she stated was obvious.

"We can't be twins you have brown hair, I have blond hair. You have dark green eyes and I have brown eyes. And you look like your 13."He said.

"I am 13 and we are twins." Laura said.

"What are you doing here? Better yet, how did you get here?"

"That doesn't matter." She said with a stern face. "I wanted to see you."Laura said with a smile.

"Why do you want to see me?" Lucas asked.

"It's getting late and I need to go."Laura stated while at the night sky.

"Where do you need to go?"Lucas asked.

"Home."

"Where's home?" He asked.

"You'll find out soon."Laura said while slowly walking to the fence.

"Bye then."Lucas said in a confused voice.

"Bye. Lucas right." Laura said in an asking tone.

"Right" Lucas said. Lucas walked toward the house, and then he stopped then turned around. Laura wasn't there. He didn't think about it too much, he was already tired so he went back to bed.

When he was sleeping his mom took him out ofbed and took him to the back yard. His mom dyed his hair brown. Then she forcedhis back into the shape of a C. As she did it you heard his back cracking likewhen you crush a plastic water bottle, but louder. Then when she was done shedragged him back to bed. During the incident, Marcas and Lana were watching thewhole thing on security cameras. They were going to tell Lucas in the morning.
