"Where's the boy?" Carvington's uncle he said through clenched teeth.

Carvington looked down. He had told his "uncle" that Lucas had left after coming back home after spending the night at Leo's where he was forced to push his friend away and pretend everything was fine. "I don't know." Carvington mumbled not trying to get yelled at for not stopping Lucas from leaving and not spilling the truth out.

"You were there, how don't you know?" He said calming himself down.

"They didn't say," He said. It wasn't entirely a lie, they hadn't said where they were going, but they didn't have to say where because he already knew.

"The family that housed him will know," He said

"No." Carvington nearly yelled. He knew what he would do if they didn't tell him anything and he didn't want to see a family ripped apart. "They don't know anything. I asked them."

His "uncle" pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Meet me at the library. The boy is gone we must look for evidence to see if we can find out where he is." He hung up the phone.

"I can't help you I need to go to school. My friend will be here soon."

"Friend," He laughed as he walked towards the door. "Come straight to the library after school and don't walk like you have all day." He opened the door and said, "Your friend is a block away. Don't ruin this. You know I'm not afraid to give you a new scar and maybe even a few bruises."

He closed the door and Carvington touched the bruise on his forearm that he had hidden on under his sleeves and thought about last night. The last time he felt that helpless was when Maconn forced him to leave his home and go to Earth. The fight he had with his "uncle" wasn't as bad as the fight with Maconn. He had yelled at him, but none of his bones were broken and he wasn't bleed as badly. He had only gotten a scratch from the knife his uncle had held when he tried to kill him and remembered that it would draw attention to them.

He remembered when he had taken off his necklace and left him without power. He couldn't heal and he would be as strong as a human. His uncle had punched him in the eye and realized that he was leaving marks that were visible and would lead to questions. So, he punched him in the stomach and grabbed him by his arm and threw him to the ground. He yelled at him as he started kicking him in the stomach, but he couldn't understand what he was saying. He had gasped and reached for his necklace, if he went too long without it he could die. His uncle had stopped and bent down and grabbed the necklace. He threw it onto Carvington's chest and told him to get out of his sight. He slipped on the necklace and breathing started to get better but he still felt horrible from being kicked. He stood and coughed up some blood. He wiped his mouth and went outside and leaned on the side of the house for a while to try to get the air back into his lungs. When he felt better, but still bruised, he had called Lucas.

He was glad he had such good friends, but was sad that he would have to leave them. "Carv," Leonardo said behind him. "Let's go we'll be late."

Carvington nodded and got up and looked at his friend.

"Your uncle told me to remind you to lock the door." Leo said.

"Okay," They left out the house and Carvington locked the door.

As they walked to school Leo asked, "Carv, what happened last night?"

Then Carvington did something he hated to do. He smiled and said, "I just wanted to give my uncle and aunt some time to work in silence so I choose to leave and went to your house. It's better to be with a friend than being in that boring house."

"So everything's fine."

"Yeah, everything's fine."
