"Where are you going?" Carvington asked. They were in their 2nd hour.

"I'm going with my birth mother." Lucas responded. He looked at Carvington for a reaction.

Carvington looked surprised later then his usual reactions. "Sorry you have to deal with that."

"Did you know?"

"The bell's kind of late this morning. It should have rung by now." Carvington said as he stared at his watch.

"Take your seats and take out yesterday's homework." The teacher said.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Jessica asked. Lucas nodded and took a bite of his peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He was glad that he choose to tell them during lunch, since eating was a good excuse for not answering a question.

"Why are you telling us the day of?" Leonardo asked.

"It was sort of sudden." Lucas answered.

"How could it be that sudden? Did she just pop up at your house yesterday and said grab your bags?"

Lucas took a bite of his sandwich. He was surprised that Leo was so accurate. "Will you do something with us after school?" Jessica asked.

"I can't. I'm really sorry." Lucas said, apologetically. "But I'll try to visit as much as I can."

"Lucas I need to tell you something." Jessica said.

"What is it?" Lucas asked.

"I li-" Jessica stopped as she looked at Lucas. "I hope you have fun with your bio family."

"Thanks," Lucas said. "Did I tell you that my mom has the same name as you?"

Lucas sat in his seat in fifth hour. He had two minutes before the bell rang.

Mr. Roy, the sub for science, was sitting at his desk. He was reading one of the textbooks.

Carvington came into the room. "Thank you for joining us, Mr. Crowsby." Mr. Roy said to Carvington, his eyes glued to the book.

Another student came in after Carvington. Mr. Roy lifted his head to see the brown haired student.

"Are you in the right class?" Mr. Roy asked the student.

"I'm new," The teenage boy said.

"Take your seats." Mr. Roy said.

Everyone ran to their seats and sat down except the new student.

"Sit down." Mr. Roy said. The student went to an empty seat and sat down. Mr. Roy stood. "Who can remember what we did yesterday?"

A handful of girls raised their hands. Mr. Roy pointed at a girl in the back of the class room. All of the hands went down. "We looked at slides and wrote the stage of mitosis it was in." the girl answered.

"Very good." Mr. Roy said. "Can anyone tell Mr. Crowsby what we're going to do today?"

"We're going to look at slides." The majority of the class said.

"Exactly," Mr. Roy said. "Go with the partner you had yesterday."

Lucas raised his hand. Mr. Roy pointed at him. "Do I still work alone or should I work with Carv." Lucas asked.

"You'll still work alone. Mr. Crowsby is behind due to his absence. So he'll be working by himself." Mr. Roy stated. Then he noticed that Lucas was wearing a necklace. He stiffened. "Where did you get that from?"

Lucas looked confused then looked at his necklace. "My mom found it. I think it was my dad's."

"Go into your groups and get started. Everyone, except for Mr. Crosby, should be done by the end of the class period."

When the bell rang people exited the room like there was a fire. "Brother," Mr. Roy said to Carvington. Carvington ignored him. "Sit down Mr. Crowsby."

Lucas left the room without Carvington. There was no reason for him to be nosy.
