Zoro pov
"10! 9! 8!" I shouted in sync with everyone else. The room wasn't packed, but everything here was important to someone else and that's what mattered. I surround by some old family, Sabo, Ace, Luffy, Nami, and Perona, and, also some new friends. Robin, Franky, Brook, and Ussop has all been able to make it. Oh, and of course Sanji. "7! 6! 5!"
Things were different in a good way and in a new way. Yes, things has gotten hard, but nothing worth having is easy. Rebuilding my relationship with my Dads wasn't easy it was awkward and forgien, but the memories I had with them kept me going.
Earring back my little sister's trust and respect wasn't fun either, but I was getting there. She was my day one, and she won't be with me one day. I've got to enjoy the inbetween. "4! 3!"
"2!" My eyes glanced to Sanji so wasn't more then five feet away. Just five feet away, like in the hallways at school and in class, but, at one point, those few feet felt like miles. I thought I was protecting him, but I was just hurting everyone to spare myself the truth.
"1!" That was all before and this is all now. "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"
Time seemed to slow as everyone clapped and I pulled Perona's face towards me so that Morty could not kiss her virgin lips, only to have my face tugged as well.
Shock overcame me until I saw whose the hand caressing my cheek belonged to. I should have recognized those lips as Sanji's. I smiled before kissing him back, and using my free hand to pull him close at the waste.
His kiss was like a promise. The one I had been waiting for. Now all I had to do was pop the questions, and he'd give me a yes. We could go back to what we did best, sitting on the couch fighting over the last slice of pizza, with a fresh start. "Happy New Year!"
"Yeah, Happy New Year, Sanji." I could feel my sister's evil gaze burn into my neck, but it didn't bother me. I reconnected my lips to Sanji as his hands slid down to my back. I've missed having him close to me like this more than anyone could imagine.
In our time apart I came to realize I loved Sanji. I loved his baby blonde hair, the way he talked with a French accent at random moments, the way he smiled to himself when cooking, the way he got angry and blush. I even loved the eyebrows he tried so hard to hide. Most importantly, I loved how he always tried to see the good in someone before seeing anything else.
Sheepishly, I blushed as Sanji pulled away from our kiss. I relaxed a little when I realized his expression matched mine. "Do you want to start the new year off right with a terrible Hallmark movie?"
"Hell yeah I do." I chuckled in response before pulling the blonde into a tight bear hug. That wasn't how I thought it would go, but, when it comes to Sanji, life has a way of surprising me.
