I go into my room and take off my boots, putting my book bag on my desk. "Hey Ben, you busy?" I yell and go back into the hallway, knocking on his door. He doesn't hear me over his music so I sigh and go to the living room, turning on the TV.
My dad walks in a little while later and sits on the couch. "How was your first day?" He asks and looks at me. "It was actually pretty good" I say and smile, looking back at him.
"That's great! Did you make any friends?" He asks with a smile. "Yeah. A girl named Rory. She's cool" I smile and mute the TV so we can talk. We talk about school for a while and then someone knocks on the door.
"Your grandma is early. Can you let her in and get your brother so he can help with dinner?" My dad asks as he goes to the kitchen. "Yeah" I say and open the door for my grandma.
"Marley!" My grandma says excitedly and bends down, hugging me tight. "Hey grandma" I say and giggle, hugging her back. "Where are the boys hiding?" She asks, shutting the front door for me.
"Dad is in the kitchen and I have to go get Ben out of his room" I say and smile. She nods and joins my dad in the kitchen and I roll down the hall. "Ben! Grandma is here!" I yell and knock on his door.
"Already? She's early" Ben says and opens his door. "I mean, she hasn't seen us since Christmas, are you really surprised?" I giggle and head to the kitchen. "Good point" Ben chuckles and follows me down the hall.
I smile and we go to the kitchen. The four of us talk about what we've been doing the past few months and make lasagna and garlic bread. I set the table after we finish cooking and we all sit down to eat.
Ben leans over and whispers in my ear "Do you have a crush on Rory?" He smirks at me. "What? No. I barely know her" I whisper back, blushing faintly. "Then why were you blushing when I saw you earlier?" He asks and laughs lightly.
"I'll tell you later" I say and bite my lip, looking down at my plate. "I love what you did with your hair, Marley" My grandma says, noticing how uncomfortable I am. "Thank you" I say and smile, looking up at her.
***30 minutes later***
We hang out for a little bit after dinner before my grandma goes home. Our dad goes to bed since he has to work night shift, so Ben and I are left alone to talk. We sit on the couch.
"Sooo, why were you blushing?" Ben asks again, looking at me. "I was blushing because of something Rory said, it was stupid" I say and shake my head, looking back at him.
"What did she say?" He laughs. "It doesn't matter" I say, giggling. "Tell me" He says and starts tickling me. I giggle and squirm, quickly telling him so that he stops tickling me.
"Seriously?" He stops and looks at me, smirking. "Yeah" I giggle, sitting back up. "Well, if you don't have a crush on her, she definitely has one on you" He says with a smile.
"I doubt that" I say and sigh softly, leaning against the back of the couch. "Why? You're amazing, Mars" Ben says and looks at me. "I'm a freak. I can't walk, or even move my legs" I frown and look back at him.
"That doesn't make you a freak. Plus, freaks are interesting" He chuckles softly and hugs me. "Thank you" I say and giggle, hugging him back. "You're welcome" He smiles and pats my back.
"We should probably head to bed" Ben says and I nod. Ben helps me get in bed and I change into my pajamas. "Need anything before I go to my room?" He asks, looking at me.
"Can I actually have my guitar?" I ask, looking up at him. He nods and gets my guitar out of the case, giving it to me. "Thank you" I smile and take it. "No problem. Night sis" He smiles and goes to his room.
I start strumming my guitar and quietly sing "There's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark. You should know you're beautiful just the way you are... You don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart..." I sigh and put my guitar down, going to sleep.
