Since it got out that you and Karma were dating, there has been non-stop whispering from your classmates. You were still in Kyoto, so the whole overnight trip thing was a bit of an issue, but both you and Karma promised to tough it out.

You sat with him in the common room where no one else was because the boys were playing pingpong and the girls were in the arcade. The chaperones were attempting to keep everyone as segregated as possible during this trip so no funny business would happen.

"What would happen if a snake and a whale had a baby?" Karma asked.

You thought for a moment before laughing. "A horror movie franchise."

Karma chuckled and leaned over to kiss you but was interrupted by a gust of wind and tentacles separating your lips.

"Absolutely no smooching on this trip!" Koro-sensei reprimanded.

Karma pushed his tentacles away as you did the same but not without trying to slice them off with a knife first in assassination fashion.

"Whatever, just give us some damn privacy," Karma demanded.

You put your head on his shoulder as Koro-sensei disappeared out the door and said, "It's okay. We'll have a superhero movie marathon when we get back."

You sat in a comfortable silence for a while and listened to the yells from down the hall of the boys grilling each other over their pingpong skills and the shouts of the girls when their avatars died before you were interrupted.

"Guys! Lights out!" Irina's voice boomed through the corridor.

You and Karma stood against your will and he swiftly leaned down to kiss your forehead before you went in your opposite directions. You were the last to arrive in the girls' room and the others were anxiously awaiting your arrival.

"(Y/N), what's Karma like in bed?" Nakamura questioned, genuinely curious.

You smiled awkwardly and instead of answering, sat on the ground with your legs crossed, but once you realized everyone was waiting for a serious answer, your face turned a bright shade of red.

"W-well, I, um," you stumbled over your words and decided to crawl into your sleeping bag as not to be asked anymore questions.

"Karma is definitely the hottest guy in our class, wouldn't you girls agree?" Nakamura inquired once more.

To (a little bit of) your surprise, the girls seemed to agree. You peaked out of your sleeping bag and noticed that none of them were paying attention to you anymore, but there was certainly something you wanted to establish in front of them before the topic swerved away.

"Guys," you said to get their attention, "not to be 'that girlfriend', but I'd appreciate it if you didn't speak about Karma that way."

"Are you possessive, (Y/N)?" Kayano teased.

"N-no, I'm just--" You cut yourself off with a sigh and closed your eyes with your head resting against the pillow.

"How did a girl like you get with a guy like Karma anyway?" Manami questioned, but realized what she said. "Not that you're not gorgeous! I mean, you're so nice and shy while he's, well, outrageous."

"We are two sides of the same coin," you whispered before you made a gesture with your hand, indicating you wanted the conversation to end.

Karma walked into the boys' room to witness his ears picking up a conversation about the girls, particularly (Y/N). He already didn't like where it was going, do he decided to intervene quickly.

"He's not," Nagisa confirmed as Karma closed the door.

"Who's not what?" Karma questioned, leaning against the wall.

"They think you're messing with (Y/N)," Nagisa said.

"You boys should keep my girlfriend and I out of your mouths. Wouldn't want any of you to go missing," Karma taunted with an eerie grin.

"Oh, come on. There's no way you're serious about her. You're way out of her league. She's a nobody," Terasaka stated.

Nagisa stood the same time as Karma pushed himself off the wall with an aura of rage. Nagisa put a hand on his best friend's chest, trying to calm him down.

"Don't let it get to you," Nagisa said. "He's just being a dick."

Karma pointed to Terasaka as the other guys slowly backed away from the scene incase a knife fight broke out. If there was one way to tick of Karma Akabane, it was talking badly about you.

"Don't ever say that again or I'll break every bone in your body. Got that?" Karma threatened seriously.

Terasaka put his hands up. "Okay, man, sorry."

Nagisa knew this would happen if it got out that the two of you were together. Everyone in Kunugigaoka saw you and Karma as polar opposites, but the three best friends knew the truth. You were outspoken and intelligent, Karma was kind and caring, but no one could see under their masks besides each other and Nagisa.

If it weren't for Nagisa in those ten seconds, Terasaka would have been toast. Karma couldn't stand when the underdogs were picked on, especially when it came to you. You weren't an underdog, no, in his eyes you led the pack, but no one else could see that yet. Though, they still had to respect you. That was his rule.

After those events, the boys decided to call it a night and scampered away to their sleeping bags just as Karasuma was checking in on them, but Karma was unable to sleep. It was hard for him to without you, so he gave up on trying. Instead, he let him mind wander to what the future held.

Killing Koro-sensei was nearing the top of his list, but Karma was thinking beyond that. He never believed he could be cared for or care for others the way he did for you, yet there you were--the star to his cloudy darkness. Whatever the future held for the two of you, he would make sure you were doing it together, otherwise there wasn't a point to him trying so hard.
