CHAPTER FOUR

"Jisoo, may I speak to you privately?" The teacher-in-charge for the upcoming school occasion had approached Jisoo during her break as she was busy stuffing her head into her locker in a hunt for her school books.

Jisoo innocently poked her head out of the cramped locker, "Sure! What is this regarding, Miss Hana?"

The teacher had respectfully cleared her throat before explaining, "I expect to see the rehearsal for the concert ready and organised by this week. Is that okay with you, Jisoo?"

"T-this week?" she stuttered. But she needs the time to study and work as well! It's impossible to finish rehearsing by the end of this week.

"Are you rejecting this proposal, Jisoo?" Miss Hana gave her a strict look that sent chills down her spine. "If you are, I can always give your position to someone else who is more willing."

Jisoo shook her head at the speed of lightning, denying Miss Hana's conclusion of her rejection. Jisoo could never reject this offer, even though she has no choice but to make a shitload of sacrifices.

Life wasn't all sunny and rainbows when you grow up with a single parent. No, it was truthfully quite like the moon and the thunder. Jisoo and her mother had been facing financial issues ever since her father had walked out of their lives when she was a small kid.

Jisoo naturally could not afford getting a tuition for herself, so all the hardwork and effort that she had put in for her examinations were all genuine. Add to that, she also needed proofs to show that she has participated in certain school events. Removing her position as the event manager meant that she had no evidence of experience, eliminating the chance for her to get into a good college.

Jisoo nodded curtly at the teacher. "Good. I expect well," she replied in a clipped tone and walked off.

After school had finally ended, Jisoo immediately found herself situatied in the theatre alone, waiting for everyone's arrival so that she could get started early.

A few hours later, the theatre finally filled up with life.

"No, no! You're supposed to show yourself only after the current performer is going off the stage," Jisoo cried out in frenzy.

Jisoo was panicking. The event was in two weeks time and she felt that the whole thing still needed a lot of changes. It was the timing, she supposed, that spoiled it all. The performance were all honestly quite wonderful as each performer had put in an equal amount of effort. What was pissing Jisoo off the most at the moment was the lighting and sound crew. They couldn't stop messing that shit up. Weren't they supposed to be an expert at it? So why couldn't they do their job properly?
