CHAPTER TEN

"I'm fine," Jin reassured Jisoo as he slowly forced himself to release his body from her embrace, immediately missing the warmth that her petite body had provided. Jisoo secretly pouted at the loss of contact as well. "Now let's cook the best and the most awesome dish, shall we?"

Jisoo's eyes glinted in excitement as she marvelled over the thought, instantly enthusiastic and eager due to Jin's words of encouragement. She eyed all of their ingredients thoughtfully while she blindly tied a ribbon at the back of her apron around the waist area. She huffed and asked the boy firmly with both of her hands planted on each side of her hips, "Alright Chef Jin, what do you have in mind?"

Although Jisoo was capable of managing a few dishes to be able to at least survive and stay independent, she certainly wasn't the greatest cook. She understood the basics of cooking, yet she could never really master any Korean dishes as well as Seokjin could. On days when Jisoo's mother would work overtime, Jin would often drop by Jisoo's house to cook for the girl since she would always scream across their houses for Seokjin and complain that she was hungry. She was a devourer by birth, not a cook!

Hungry Jisoo was, for a fact, someone that you shouldn't mess around with. She'd wail the most egregious tunes and melodies known to mankind, shattering wine glasses and eardrums. Some might call it a paradox when they've horrifyingly discovered that the most horrendous of sounds were emitted by a person who looked remarkably delightful and as pleasant as the light of the sun when it rises above the skyline.

Jin had quite learnt his lesson after an encounter with that monstrous side of Jisoo a couple years back when they had scarcely entered their youth.

After Jin had instructed Jisoo with simple, light duties like dicing onions and chopping vegetables, Jisoo instantly got to work. They could not afford to waste any time since the group had strictly set themselves a time limit of two hours to be able to get the dish done and ready for display. Jin was determined to win, his pride and ego indisposed to get crushed by his bunch of spirited friends.

As Jisoo diced the onions, she could not help but release a grunt of frustration. She sniffed, feeling incapable of controlling the tears that were welling up at the bottom of her eyes, similar to the sudden gush of a waterfall that was merciless to her commands. She sneakily bounded into the house and headed straight towards Jin's room, snatching the first pair of sunglasses that she was able to find on top of his dresser. After doing so, Jisoo instantly ran back down to his backyard, all the while Jin remained oblivious to his best friend's short but sudden disappearance, for he was too deeply in concentration in the art of perfecting his dish.

Jisoo perched the sunglasses on top of her nose, hurriedly continuing from where she had left off. Truthfully, she admitted that the sunglasses did wonders. Now her eyes didn't felt like it was being physically mauled by a bunch of wild spices, fantasy wise. Jisoo hummed a happy tune to herself, focusing on the sharp knife as it slowly but smoothly glided into the onions, cutting it into tinier pieces.
