CHAPTER SEVEN
"Jisoo watch out!" Jisoo widened her eyes and let out a shriek, ducking down instantly upon impulse. The football ball flew right past the spot where her head was previously in.
She stilled for a moment, still trying to comprehend everything that had just happened. Suddenly, a pair of arms snaked around her waist and little pecks were peppered all over her face. "Shit, are you okay?"
She remained quiet for a while, extending the silence over them to amplify the atmosphere of her current situation. "You guys almost killed me," she whispered theatrically, trying to exaggerate the whole thing for dark humor. "If I hadn't moved, I might suffer a concussion and I might get into a coma and I might never wake up and I might just, die, right in the arms of my beloved!" she screeched and pretended to faint.
"Aish, don't be so dramatic yah Kim Jisoo," Jin gazed at her side profile amusedly and squeezed her body even more tightly, though he couldn't see her face properly.
Jisoo mock gasp, pushing his chest away to face him properly. "Dramatic? You're not the one about to be smashed in the head with a 2000 tonne ball!" she made wild gestures with her arms. "I can just predict the news headline now, HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT MURDERED BY A BALL."
"I'm just glad you're safe," Jin shook his head and sighed, his shoulders drooping down in relief, but it immediately went rigid and stiff again. "You are okay, right? No broken limbs?" he frantically touched her entire upper body to check for any broken bones.
"Did you see me get hit by the ball?" Jisoo deadpanned. Jin shook his head. "Then?"
"Oi Jin! Get back in here you rathead, you can talk to your lover girl after practice. The game is not over!" Someone called out his name from the field.
Jin widened his eyes like a deer caught in the headlights, stunned momentarily at being propelled into the team's centre of attention. Still hugging the girl, Jisoo could feel the shape of his lips slowly constructing into a cheeky smile.
That bastard! She knew darn well that her childhood friend was easily unpertubed by all the attention he gained. It would surprise him at first, but a while later he would gladly cherish it.
He softly uttered near Jisoo's ear, his arms still enveloped around her torso, aware that all eyes, including the girls on the bleachers, were discreetly on the spectacle. "Well, that's my cue. Don't forget to ask the girls about our plans," he gave Jisoo one last squeeze before letting the girl go.
He waved his hand and smiled at her before running off to his team. Jisoo watched him as he dwindled off onto the field. She admiringly stared at his broad shoulders that seemed as if it could go on for miles, even her own pair of legs could never compare. His lush, obsidian black hair that was wet with sweat and his lean build that the football practices over the years had granted him with, the bulging muscles stretching his jersey horizontally. Jisoo ignored the familiar tug in her heart.
