choi youngjae is, and never was, a morning person.

"two more minutes," he pouted through his sleep as jaebum shook him awake.

"you do realise that i will drag you towards the dance studio if i have to," the older boy retorted as youngjae ignored him and snuggled deeper into his neck.

"—good luck," he mumbled after a while.

with no more patience to spare, jaebum tore the blanket off the younger boy and threw a glass of water at the sleeping figure's face.

"what kind of affection is that—?" bambam questioned, chewing his cereal as he peeked into their room but quickly ran out once receiving jaebum's threatening glare.

youngjae was a mess of wet hair and stuttering coughs, but at least he was awake.

"morning, you have like fifteen minutes before we leave," the older boy chuckled.

with a sigh, youngjae staggered up and proceeded to get ready with a hazy mind as water dripped down his chin.

it wasn't long until all the seven members found themselves sweating and practically dying over and over again in the process of training. all day long, for weeks on straight — they repeated the same material on and on. trainers would come in and out to correct them or replace their positions or give out for slumbering off. throughout most lunch breaks everyone would either take naps or rest in silence. of course occasionally, a goof fight would break out to disrupt the intensity between the stressing trainees, and an exhange of laughs and jokes was always present. at the dorm, they would all crash to watch tv on tiresome nights, or go out for a takeaway to celebrate the end of another week.

with each passing day, youngjae's aching muscles faded away, and he grew incredibly close with everyone's screaming habits and tickling wars. not often, he would be able to call his parents and older siblings, but they understood his position and accepted his apologies with grave hearts.

throughout practices, everyone stumbled at times. forgetting the choreography, tripping on air, bumping into each other. but the group was managing it well, talking it out, taking it slower, providing breaks whenever possible.

it was harder for those who still had school work on their minds, of course it wasn't predominant, but it was still there.

nothing was perfect, but at this point it was expectable.

"guys c'mon—" yugyeom urged at the group, "they're repeating dream high season two on tv!" he laughed.

jaebum and jinyoung suddenly appeared out of thin air, attacking the younger boy immediately, and suffocating him until they were able to tear the remote off him.

"forget that drama ever exists!" they turned it off.

"but hyungs!" yugyeom whined in response as jackson and mark teased them in the background.

"why'd you even agree to do it if you're so embarrassed about it?" youngjae laughed as he dropped onto the sofa right on top of yugyeom.

jinyoung glared at him, "well it's not like we had a choice."

"—oh," youngjae stuttered, "i didn't mean to—"

"—whatever," jaebum interrupted him, "let's just rewatch school 2013, i will never get enough of lee jongsuk."

"—and kim woobin!" mark joined them as everyone gathered before the tv screen, toppling over one another.

yugyeom was protesting loudly as bambam took a seat basically on his shoulders, and youngjae tried to push off jaebum who clinged onto him for dear life as jackson screamed once choi daniel appeared on scene. sitting aside, jinyoung and mark just leaned into each other's warmt and calmly watched the drama act by.

it was the night before their monthly evaluation, a night of comfort before things fell apart.
