"Who exactly is that?" Sammi had the nerve to speak to Mickey, which made him glance at her with a natural glare. Sammi had waited for Rosie to go to the bathroom to say anything else.
"None of your God damn business." Mickey spoke, nonchalantly, immediately jumping to Rosie's defense. He had only met Sammi once before, and already knew that she was no good.
"Well, geez, I'm sorry." Sammi looked at him with a disgusted face. Mickey ignored her for the rest of the morning, after Chuckie left for school
Rosie, after going to the bathroom, saw it fit to go see Ian, too. She closed the bedroom door, quietly, behind her. She rested her arms on the bed, staring at Ian's back. He hadn't moved yet.
"Daddy?" Rosie spoke softly, touching his back, lightly. She recieved a muffled 'hm' in response, making her know that he wasn't in the mood for anything. "Mickey is here." She tried convincing him to get out of bed. She wasn't exactly sure why he was still in bed. She assumed he wasn't feeling well. She remembered, when she was still with Hayden, how Hayden would let her lay down all day when Rosie didn't feel well.
"Go away." Ian mumbled, weakly, not wanting to hear anything about Mickey. Rosie pulled her hand away, thinking of what to say next.
When she couldn't think of anything else to say, she left. Rushing to get downstairs again, to make sure Mickey was still there.
Mickey immediately noticed the sorrow covering Rosie's, usually radiant, features as she came down the stairs.
"What's wrong, sweetie?" Mickey asked, turning in his chair for her to approach him. Usually, Mickey wouldn't use terms of endearment around other people, but he didn't care too much for Sammi, anyways, and Rosie was the only one that he didn't have to keep up a reputation with.
"Daddy isn't getting up." She stated, as Mickey picked her up, and set her on his lap. Sammi, after watching the scene in silence, went wide eyed from excitement.
"Who? I'm an aunt? What?" She smiled from ear to ear, making Mickey glare back in her direction, momentarily. He finally looked back at Rosie.
"Ian's just a little sick. Nothing to worry about." Mickey assured her, even it was a little white lie. Sammi's excitement grew even more.
"Ian had a baby?" Her questions just kept coming, as she circled around the counter to see Rosie more clearly, finding sudden interest in her.
"You need to push the fuck back, nut job." Mickey held a hand out to stop her from getting any closer. Sammi glared at him.
"Get fucked, Mickey." Sammi stated, with venom in her voice, after staring at him for a few moments. She turned on her heel with a huff, grabbing her coat to leave.
"Who is that, Mickey?" Rosie asked, looking up at him, after Sammi spoke some harsh words.
"A crazy bitch that you don't talk to." Mickey said, with a slight grin as he looked back at Rosie. A small smile came to Rosie's lips, making Mickey feel better, knowing that Rosie didn't feel so rejected by Ian anymore. "Okay?"
"Okay." Rosie nodded, as Sammi said goodbye to Frank, before she left. The only part of Mickey's statement that Rosie truly understood was 'that you don't talk to', which was enough for the actual point he was making.
