I woke up to the smell of bacon and sausage cooking downstairs. I struggled out of the bed and stumbled downstairs still half asleep, tripping over the bottom of my pyjama trousers as I did so.
“Morning,” I yawned, rubbing sleep from my eyes.
“Morning, gorgeous,” a deep manly voice responded. I froze; my eyes snapping open and saw Wolfgang stood facing the oven, his back to me. I quietly crept back upstairs and, once in the privacy of my room, threw on a pair of jeans and a band t-shirt, before walking back downstairs. When I walked in Wolfgang was starting to plate up the breakfast.
“What are you doing here?” I asked suspiciously.
“Making you breakfast?” he replied, gesturing to the plates.
“Why?”
“Why not?” he shrugged. I sighed and walked over to the worktop, picked up my plate and sat down at the table. Wolfgang sat down opposite me and began tucking in.
“Morning, Aleks, morning, Wolfgang,” my mother said from the doorway.
“Morning, mum,” I said, looking up from my plate.
“Morning, Catherine,” Wolfgang replied, glancing up briefly before going back to his breakfast. “Nice pyjamas by the way, Aleks,” he whispered. I gasped, choking on my food briefly, before recovering and taking a sip of my water.
“You ok, Aleks?” my mum asked. I nodded, turning my attention back to my food, glaring at Wolfgang quickly. He chuckled quietly and turned back to his food.Once breakfast was finished I helped my mum wash the dishes whilst Wolfgang stood outside talking to someone on the phone.
“So, the bad boy and my good girl huh?” my mum smirked. I stared at her.
“What?”
“Oh, don’t play coy with me, Aleks, you two are together now, I know.”
“What? H-how did you know?”
“I have my sources,” she smiled. I glared at her as Wolfgang came back into the kitchen.
“Sorry, I’ve got to go, my father wants to speak to me about some family business, I’ll be back in a few hours to pick you up, Aleks,” he said walking over to me and kissing the top of my head. I nodded dumbly and looked after him as he left.
“Thanks for having me, Catherine, see you later, beautiful,” he smirked at me as he closed the door. My mum nudged me in the ribs.
“See what I mean?” she said.
“Shut up,” I mumbled. She giggled and walked through to the living room. “You got any plans for today?” I asked as I sat down next to her on the sofa.
“Nope, meeting up with the girls again today I think, but nothing else… unlike you,” she smiled, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively.
“Urgh, mum!” I moaned shoving her as I went up to my room. Why couldn’t I have a normal mum?!
“I’ll call you down when the boy comes back,” she yelled as I ascended the stairs.
“Yeah, yeah,” I replied, not really paying attention.I opened up my laptop and turned it on, taking my notebook out of the top drawer in my desk and opening it up. I clicked on word and, once it had finally loaded, started typing up my story from the last point. I plugged in my earphones and turned on my Asking Alexandria and Bullet For My Valentine playlist. I hummed quietly along with the songs before getting bored of writing and took out my drawing pad instead and began doodling.
About an hour later, and a large pile of rolled up paper balls later, I finally perfected the sketch for my drawing, before actually starting it.A quite rap on my door brought me out of my trance.
“Come in,” I shouted, whilst taking out my earphones and putting down my sketch pad.
“What ya drawin’, gorgeous?” I looked up and saw Wolfgang poking his head around the door frame. I quickly shut the book and turned back to him.
“Nothing,” I mumbled. He nodded and held out his hand to me.
“Come on.” I took his hand and followed him down the stairs. “Bye, Catherine!” he yelled.
“Bye, mum!” I shouted.
“Bye, kids, have fun!” mum replied. I grabbed my coat and picked up my house keys, dropping the in my pocket as Wolfgang led me to his car. I stopped on the doorstep and stared in awe at it.
“See something you like?” Wolfgang asked smugly, leaning against his car.
“Uh huh, your car is awesome!” I exclaimed.
“Hop in,” he laughed. I walked round to the other side of the car and got in.
“So, where are we going?” I asked.
“It’s a surprise,” Wolfgang answered. I turned to him, an eyebrow raised. “What?”
“Seriously? ‘It’s a surprise.’ There’s nothing interesting in this town,” I replied.
“Just wait and see.” I nodded and we fell into a comfortable silence.
