I awoke slowly, rubbing the sleep from my eyes. I opened my eyes and looked around. Somehow I was in a bed… my bed! How the hell did I get here?  I went to sit up but found that I was already in a sitting position, and I was leaning against something really soft and warm. I stretched, hitting my arm off the pillow behind me, except said pillow moved. I felt something warm and heavy draped across my legs. l looked down and saw a huge fluffy black tail draped over the covers. I turned and saw the owner of the tail: a giant jet black wolf! I yelped in fright and jumped off the bed. The wolf opened its eyes and yawned. I stared at it as it showed huge three inch long fangs. It turned and looked at me, its eyes going wide. I backed away from it and towards the wall. The wolf jumped off the bed and stretched before slowly padding towards me. I kept backing away, the wolf still coming towards me until I was pinned against the wall.
“D-don’t hurt me, p-please,” I whispered, tears slowly creeping down my face. The wolf stared at me in shock, shaking its head and whimpering. It leaned forwards, its muzzle centimetres from mine. I turned my face away from it, silently praying that it would leave me alone. I glanced back at it quickly, before turning away gain. The wolf leaned forward, opened its massive jaws and… licked my face?! I turned and looked at the wolf, staring at it in shock. It stepped back and looked at me… lovingly? The wolf changed back into a human and looked at me worriedly.
“W-Wolfgang?” I asked cautiously. Wolfgang nodded and looked at the ground. “What-what’s going on? Wh-why are you a-a w-w-wolf?” I stuttered, panic taking over me.
“I’m sorry, Aleks, I should have told you before but I didn’t know how you would react, I thought you’d hate me or think that I’m a monster,” he mumbled. I looked at the ground, not making eye contact with him.
“I-I don’t think you’re a monster, I just never thought…” I whispered, still not looking at him.
“That your boyfriend would be a monster,” Wolfgang snapped. I gulped and kept my eyes downcast.
“Wolfgang, I-”
“No, don’t.”
“Wolfgang I-I wasn’t going to say that, I-I was going to say that- that I don’t think you’re a monster. It’s just a shock,” I mumbled.
“So you’re not rejecting me then?” Wolfgang asked. I looked up at him confused.
“Rejecting you? What do you mean? I-I didn’t dump you, so how can I reject you?” I asked. Wolfgang chuckled.
“I don’t mean in that sense,” he smiled. I nodded solemnly. “I think I need to teach you about my kind.” Wolfgang turned and walked over to the bed and sat down. He patted the space next to him. “Come sit with me, Aleks.” I walked over to the bed and sat down next to him.
“So what do I need to know?” I asked quietly. Wolfgang took my hand in his and started stroking circles on the back of it.

“Where should I start?” he asked.
“Uh, how about why everyone keeps calling you Alpha,” I answered.
“Well that’s because I’m the leader of the pack; a werewolf pack is the same as a wolf one, the leader being the Alpha. He’s kind of like the King or father of the pack, the one every other wolf looks up to. The Luna is the female equivalent; she is the Queen and mother of the pack; the Alpha’s mate.”
“What’s a mate?”
“A mate is a soul-mate, the one person made for you, the only one a wolf will over love. They are a wolf’s whole world; a wolf will give their mate their heart and soul, they will give their life to protect their mate.”
“You sound as though you’ve found yours.”
“I have, and she’s absolutely gorgeous, she’s the most perfect girl in the world. She is the only one I’ll ever want.”
“She sounds amazing,” I muttered, getting off the bed.
“Wait, where are you going?” he asked reaching out to grab my arm.
“Why are you here?” I asked.
“Why do you ask that? I thought that was clear; I’m making sure that you’re ok,” he answered.
“Why aren't you with your mate?” I asked, still not facing him, not wanting him to see the tears threatening to fall.
“I am with her,” Wolfgang said, getting off the bed and walking around the bed. I froze.
“She-she’s downstairs! Why aren't you there with her?” I asked. Wolfgang laughed and stopped in front of me, wrapping his arms around my waist.
“She’s right here with me, in this room,” he smiled. I looked around frantically searching for this hidden person.
“Where? I don’t see her.” Wolfgang chuckled and turned me around so that I was facing my wall with my back to his chest. He walked me forwards towards the mirror in my room and positioned me in front of it.
“She’s right here in my arms, where she belongs,” he smiled kissing my neck.
“What? Where… you mean me?!” Wolfgang nodded and kissed my cheek.
“You are my mate, Aleks, so stop crying, I’m not leaving. Ever,” he said turning me to face him and kissing me. I buried my face in his chest and heard a quiet swishing noise as I did so. I tried to look over his shoulder, but he was too tall, so I settled for peering round his side. A large fluffy black tail was protruding from the base of his spine. I looked up at him and noticed a pair of black wolf ears on the top of his head. I slowly reached up and touched one of them; it twitched as my fingers brushed the fur.
“Wh-why do you have wolf ears and a tail?” I asked.
“Well now that you know what I am I can let my tail and ears show whenever I want,” Wolfgang answered. I nodded in understanding as Wolfgang led me back to the bed and sat down with me on his lap.
