"lets go to the diner." brendon offered to tyler, they were going to eat at his house but his parents were called into work. both worked at the hospital, his mother a nurse and his father a doctor.

"okay." the tan boy agreed, getting off of the mustard yellow couch and walking with his friend to his baby blue truck.

brendons father bought him it for his fifteenth birthday. it was his baby. its the truck he used to take his girl out on dates, where he had his first kiss, even where he lost his virginity.

tyler yelled at him the day he told him he made love to sarah. he was a firm believer of waiting until marriage. he didnt think his friend would go to hell or anything, but he definitely thought he couldn't skip a day of church until he was eighty.

they made their way to a local diner, fezes. everyone and anyone knew where it was and ate there at least once a month. it was the place to be.

he went in and took a seat in a blue booth, looking around to the many knickknacks on the wall. many pictures of the owner with a famous person who happened to stop bye, mixed with random car parts littered the wall.

"what can i get ya' today kids?" betty, the waitress asked, holding up a note pad. she looked bored as hell.

"ill have sum' fries and a cheese burger, oh and a cola too, please." brendon answered with hunger in his eyes.

"ill have the same but no tomatoes on the burger please." tyler whispered, scared of doing something wrong in a simple situation like this.

"comin' right up!" she said with glee, giving the boys a huge smile.

"thank'ya mám." they said in unison, getting a bigger smile in return.

the two sat, exchanging a few words once in a while, the waitress came with the colas and told them the food would take a minute- apparently the cook burnt the last batch of pattys.

a group of boys came in, going straight to the jukebox and playing disco.

everyone groaned. even the lebanese boy.

"you gotta' problem boy?" one of the boys came over to tyler, leaning his hands on either side of his shoulders. the boy could feel the others breath on his neck, making him cringe.

"n-no." tyler stuttered, it was one of the popular kids at school- peter kingston something, he didnt know. he could tell because he came right to tyler to bully him; also because nobody sane liked disco.

"what's wrong pete?" a familiar red head came out of the group, he didnt sound like he was trying to scar the poor lebanese boy with his voice like the other boy, tyler sighed out in relief.

"this nigger thinks he's better than everyone els'. dont yeah boy?" he spat towards the innocent brunnete, making him shiver.

brendon sat and watched with clenched fists and a scowl on his face. he wanted to butt in, but he wanted his friend to stick up for himself first. he'd butt in if it got physical.

"why do ya' pick on him though?" josh asked with furrowed eyebrows. he was very confused.

"he's a no good nigger that sucks dick." pete spat through clenched teeth towards the boy. tyler dropped his head down in shame, even though he had nothing to be ashamed about.

"that's no reason to be mean to someone. you know not to say that word either. jus' leave 'em alone if you got something against people who aren't heterosexuals and white." josh added, obviously disappointed in his friends behavior.

he knew pete was good at heart. his father raised him to be like this. it was no excuse though, he's his own person so he could always change how he is.

josh shooed away his other friends besides ryan, who happily sat next to brendon as josh sat by tyler.

the two boys who sat oppisite of tyler and josh had a tint of red on their cheeks. they always would sneak off together and do vulgire things. they both had a girlfriend, so they didnt hang out at school or anything in fear that someone would assume something.

the red head and brunette didnt know about the others previous actions, josh only knew brendons name, not his face.

"are you okay?" josh started, looking at the side of the boys head as he was looking down at the ground.

"yeah."

"ya' sure?"

"yes."

"m'sorry."

"for what?"

"m'friends. they shouldn't be pickin' on ya'."

"its okay, thanks for stickin' up for'm." tyler thanked before looking up at the mocha eyed boy for the first time.

"its totally okay if you're a homosexual. deffinatly nothin' wrong with ya' bein' lebanese either." josh almost whispered, so close to the other face. he felt the breath of the boys fan over his face.

"t-thank you. uh, joshua? right?" tyler asked only now realizing he wasnt sure of the boys name.

"yep. youre tyler right?" josh confirmed. grabbing onto his, hopefully, knew friends hand for reasurence.

tyler answered with a simple 'mhm' while looking down at their hands intertwined. his rosy cheeks became a tomato color.

the two made proper eye contact again, josh noticed emotion bled from the boys face.

it was pure happiness.

"i know we just met n'all but do ya' wanna go to the drive-in with me and ryan-" josh paused to use his free hand to point to his freind, who was busy in conversation with brendon. "-your friend can keep him company if he wants to go too." he looked back at the boy with expecting eyes.

"o-okay." tyler smiled.

the food finally came and the two boys munched down, sharing with the others who didnt order anything.

"why are you so nice to me?" tyler directed towards the curly haird boy, now rembering about his silent deal to not fall for it.

"why wouldn't i be?" josh asked confused, munching on one of tylers fries.

"i dont know, maybe the fact that m'a nobody that's also a homosexual. youre white too, why would you want to to talk to someone who wasnt?" tyler challenged with a passion.

tyler was mistaken as white all the time, his tan skin looks like he was just out working on the farm on a sunny day, rather than it being his usual skin tone.

josh's eyes widened, stunned at the boys sudden confidence.

"uh, don' go talkin' like that now.-" josh tsked, "i dont really care what color you are, you seem nice an' that's all that matters to me. im a bisexual myself, i like boys and girls. dont tell anyone though." josh ended it with a wink that made the tan boys knees weak.

    "o-okay."

tyler decided to trust him- to an extent.
