I woke up to the click of the door. Her scent filled my nose, mixed with the somewhat familiar metallic taste of blood in my mouth. I look to my leg that's wrapped in bandages. There's a small note next to me, it reads:

'You got into a fight with Stefan. There's a deep cut on your leg and it's best to rest it. Dad.'

I sigh. Although I don't remember the fight I do remember what happened before. I shook my head, ashamed at what I had done. I'd let my wolf dictate my actions, I'd treated Clara like and object - something to be won - rather than the beautiful mate she was. I had to apologise. I can't sleep otherwise. Discarding the note I got up and grabbed a pen and notebook from the shelf in my room and began to write

'I can't tell you how sorry I am... I let my wolf take over and I shouldn't have, I should have stopped him. I understand if you don't want to see me - I'm a horrible mate and you deserve better. You can come to me this time, I won't push you to see me although Emily will still come round at the same time. Feel free to explore the pack house and the territory. Again, I'm sorry. - Jasper'

I write and hobble my way to her room. I can hear the water running and, grabbing the bouquet of flowers I was planning on giving to her tomorrow as a gift, I placed the note and flowers on her bed. I stop and inhale the scent of her, sweet lavender and honey scents filled my nose and I lingered for a moment, taking it in. Her scent had become familiar over the last few days, I tried to savour it as much as possible. The sound of her getting out of the bath shocked me from the trance I was in and I quickly left her room before she heard me or felt my presence. As I got to my room I noticed the heaviness of my eyelids and allowed sleep to take me.

I awoke to the faint smell of the lavender and Hone that hinted to my mates presence. A short rap at the door confirmed my suspicions. She entered without my answer, she didn't care about the usual rules of etiquette, one of the many things I had discovered - and loved - about her.

"FYI I prefer yellow roses." She states from the doorway. I smile, her presence warmed my otherwise cold heart. It was strange, even my father had commented, how one person can change someone so much; the fact it was me just made it even more astonishing.

"I'll make a note" I replied, taking in her natural beauty

"Um, can I come in?" She asked timidly

"Yeah, sorry." I spoke whilst pulling myself up so she could sit at the edge of my bed.

"So... We're in your room this time then." She commented, clearly just trying to make conversation - awkwardly I might add.

"Yeah, so we are..." I trail off. It falls silent, a thick layer of tension palatable in the room

"I'm sorry!" We both exclaim simultaneously. We stare at each other awkwardly for a moment

"You don't have anything to be sorry for." I stated

"Yes. I do." She said in a small voice

"What then? What could you have possibly have done to cause this?"

"I was difficult. I made you angry and then you got hurt."

"It. Is. Not. Your. Fault." I say bluntly

"But -" I cut her off

"Nope."

"I-"

"Nope."

"Just-"

"Nope." She sighs, glaring at me. "And when did you start liking me enough to care whether I got hurt or not?" I question

"I don't like you. But you still my mate." I look at her

"And I haven't been a good one." I look down, ashamed of myself "And from now on, I'm going to be better." I declare "Ask me anything"

"Oh." She looks taken aback at the statement "I-Uh-Um..." She says as I watch her. I can almost see her mind reel over different questions. "What happened to your neck?" She asks, indicating at the raw scar that ran down my ear to my collar bone. I sigh,

"A car accident when I was younger." I lie, the real truth being some think I wasn't ready to address with her yet. "My turn!" I say, grinning. "What happened to make you a rogue?" I delve deeper with my question

"It's a long story." She almost pleads with me

"We have time." I say with a wicked smile when she see's she can't get out of answering. She sighs and begins to speak

"So, my family were Alpha's of a pack, Red Moon."

"I've heard of them. I thought the whole blood line was wiped out."

"Yes, they were. All except me. I was 14 when it happened, two years ago. I managed to escape, but my whole family was killed. That's when I met Peter and Charlie... and you know the rest." I look deep in her eyes - at least she's telling the truth. It's a sad story, but one I know too well.

"Mya. I have something to tell you."

"Can it wait?" she begs "I'm starving!"

"Oh. Sure..." I sigh. "Get dressed, I think it's time you had a tour." I say, plastering a smile on my face that I know is fake.

"Okay then. But food first." She says adamantly

"Food first." I agree, hearing my own stomach growl. She dashes into her room and emerges minutes later with a green hoodie and black jeans on. I wear a white top and black trousers and she smiles at me as she walks out. What have I done to deserve such a nice mate. We walk down the stairs and into the dining room. It's late morning on a Tuesday so the house is almost deserted and those that remain are up in their rooms. I instructed the guards to clear the downstairs and inform my family and my beta's family to meet me downstairs in the kitchen. We walk in and the massive banquet table is adorned with fruits and pastries. I look at my mate as her eyes widen and her mouth gapes open. I chuckle at her comical face and turn back to the smiling group of close family members and friends that are ready to welcome my mate with open arms.

"Close your mouth," Emily giggles, reaching up to close Clara's jaw "You don't want to catch flies!"
