The early morning sun streamed through the window. I swung my legs off the bed and checked the alarm cock on the bedside table, 5:08. I sighed, I had either been awake the whole night or waking up very early. I dragged my feet across the floor as I flicked the shower on, letting the cold water wash down my back. I stepped out and let the water pool at my feet. Once I was dressed I threw the towel on the floor and allowed the water to absorb. I trod down the stairs and poured a hot cup of coffee. I took it outside and sat on the small bench, listening to the early bird songs. The cold air was replaced by the soft warmth of the coffee. I looked down at my choice of clothing, a simple pair of black joggies and dark boots. My bare chest was shadowed by the canopy of leaves overhead. I placed the coffee on a table and looked up at the small slithers of light glinting down between the gaps in branches. I felt a cold rush of wind down my neck and I span around, my eyes searching the chairs and plants for the culprit. I stood up and felt a warm body behind me. Spinning around I prepared myself to lunge at the body but a soft hand fell on my shoulder. It shouldn't have been able to hold me back but it felt like long, strong arms had wrapped themselves around my waist and was holding me in place. Despite my previous hostility a large smile broke onto my face. The invisible arms around my waist disappeared and I embraced my friend in a large bear-hug,
"Jensen!?" I laughed, pulling back and holding the older man at arms length, "I thought you weren't coming until tonight?"
"Well," He replied in his familiar, deep voice, "I wanted to spend the day with my oldest friend."
"God, how old are you now?!" I said, remembering the days where the faint worry lines that now adorned his face were non-existent.
"It's not polite to ask." Jensen scolded, "But I'm 108" He said, wearing a proud smile on his face.
"108 looks good on you." I laughed alongside him. I glanced down at the familiar cup of coffee he was holding then down at the table. "You took my coffee." I snarled, playfully.
"Why, yes, I did. But remember which one of us is 108." I rolled my eyes swung my arm across Jensen's shoulders and pulled him inside. Pouring another cup of coffee I walked over to the breakfast bar and took a seat next to Jensen, "So, where's this mate I've heard so little about?"
"Sleeping." I replied bluntly,
"No I'm not." Mya yelled from the top of the stairs. Jensen raised an eyebrow and I smirked at him.
"Come down then, Mya." I yelled back at her. Jensen stood up and watched my mate descend the stairs. I took my mate by the hand and guided her towards Jensen. I could feel her shoulders push back into my arm, unsure of the smiling man standing in our kitchen. "Mya, this is Jensen." I declared as we drew within arms distance from him.
"Pleasure to meet you." Jensen gleamed, offering a warm hand out to Mya who eyed it sceptically. I nudged my mates back and she shot her own arm out towards Jensen.
'Why is he here now?' Mya questioned through our mind-link. I grimaced as the warm smile on Jensen's face flickered slightly and a look of hurt flashed across his eyes at my mate's harsh tone.
"I would appreciate if you didn't try and cut me out of the conversation." He spoke, his attempt to keep his voice steady faltering only slightly. I felt Mya's gasp on my arm and I scowled at Jensen for a moment before turning to Mya,
"He's a warlock. A very good one. He can hear what wolves say to each other as long as they're in human form." I explained before turning back to Jensen, "Really? You couldn't have just explained it to her first?" To this he replied with a shrug.
"I'll leave you too to get ready." He muttered, motioning to my mate's shorts and oversized top she had worn to bed. I nodded curtly and let him walk past us to the door.
"Mya..." I began but she pulled out of my arms and swung her bag across her shoulder. THe door slammed shut before I could even get another word out. I sighed into my coffee and took the short line of mugs that had formed across the kitchen counter to the sink.

"Jasper, are you sure you want to do this?" Stefan trailed behind me as I strode fast towards the basement door.
"Yes." I cut off his arguments and swung open the door. I turn to him when I had reached the bottom of the stairs. "You don't need to follow me."
"I know. And I wouldn't if I trusted you weren't going to bite his head of the first thing he says." Stefan replies as he reached past me and presses his hand onto the scanner and the familiar clicking sound echoes before the door slips open slightly. Stefan eyes me with concern as I push into the cold room before a second set of footsteps follows me in. I turn and nod at him as he pushes the thick door open. A large shape leant against the back wall lifted it's tired eyes to meet ours. A cold sneer slips onto it's face,
"Oh, today must be my lucky day." Casey snarls, "I get to kill you both without having to find you." I give him a warning growl,
"Remember, Casey, you aren't an Alpha anymore." Stefan threatens, "You aren't really anything."
"Oh, has your Alpha" He said the word with venom thick in his tone, "Not told you what he was about to do before you came bursting in?" He taunted. Stefan pulled away from the silver cage and shot me a confused glance. "Oh. Have I caused trouble?" I growled at him.
"I don't care what was about to happen. It didn't happen and never will." He turned to Casey once more,
'What happened?' Stefan questioned, I gave him an 'I'll tell you later' glance. He nodded in understanding and turned back to Casey,
"Oh, don't stop your little conversation for me." He looked down at his hands as he spoke, twirling something I couldn't see.
"Oh, believe me. We're not" I snarl back at him and his dark eyes fly up to meet mine. He gives me a wicked grin and stands up, leaning one foot against the back wall. The item in his hands comes into view now and I gasp, my eyes wide. I am about to reach out to Stefan when Casey draws his hand back and flings it in Stefan's direction. I push Stefan to the floor - in doing so I stepped in the way of the make-shift knife Casey had put together. I felt the sharp pang of pain in my shoulder and I cry out in pain. Stefan jumps up and reaches out to me. I shake my head and pull away towards the door. I hear Stefan shouting a threat at Casey as I slip out the door. Once Stefan joins me in the main part of the pack house he walks close to me, his hand placed protectively at my back. We stumble through the hallways and out the door, heading to the black SUV parked close. Stefan slips on the ignition and pulls away, the sound of gravel following us.
