I listened into their conversations;
"What happened with Emily?" Stefan questioned.
"I think she was just exhausted." Jasper mumbles back
"Let's see in the morning. For now we just need to hope she forgets whatever she thinks she could smell." Mya finishes, they all keep their voices low but I can still hear them. I shake my head, they just don't understand... I can smell him, sense him. He was there, no matter what they say, he was there.

I waited until I heard the doors clicking shut and the water running. I grabbed the items Mya had bought through into my room and put it in the small bag I bought with me. As I swing the window open I eye up the jump to the ground. I push the dangers to the back of my mind and take a few steps back. Taking a deep breath I lunge out the window, putting my arms down to protect my fall. I growl at the sharp impact as small twigs dig into my palms. I shake off the pain and the leaves that softened my fall - slightly. Before I reach the edge of the forest I turn back and look at the dimmed lights emerging from the house. I can faintly catch his scent once I reached the small road that led to the pack house. I followed it, feeling it gradually grow stronger. I suspected he had walked wherever he was going - most wolves that weren't Alpha's didn't have a car. I followed the dim lighted road until the rushing sounds of vehicles and the bright light's of the city began to appear in the distance. The scent was stronger now, he wasn't too far off. I stalked the sweet oak fragrance to a small motel, my wolf urged me to go inside. It was warm inside - a sweet relief from the bitter wind outside - and a smiling women welcomed me. The warm room only helped to make my drooping eyes tired-er.
"Hello, miss." She spoke in a chirpy voice. "What can I help you with?" Her strong southern accent was unusual and out-of-place in the cold north of England.
"Can I have a room?" I mumble, my senses still grabbing at any idea on my mates whereabouts,
"Of course you can!" Her optimistic persona was beginning to get at my last nerve. I give her a small smile as she passes me a rusty key. "Third one on the right." She points, "Oh, and there's a lovely looking lad right next to you." She adds with a wink. I give her another smile and walk in the direction she pointed. I stumbled toward the dark green door and twisted the door nob. It creaked open and threw my small bag on the bed. I slipped the shower on and allowed the lukewarm water to drip down my neck. I get out and dry myself with the towel left on the side of the sink before slipping into the same clothes I had been wearing earlier. I stepped out the door of my room and took a long breath of air. The sharp scent of exhaust masked the faint scent of my mate when I first arrived but now it had cleared the scent was overwhelmingly close. I begin tracking it and don't get very far because it draws to a stop outside the door next to mine. I take a deep breath and knock. I wait in silence for a few moments and knock again. When - yet again - no reply came I began to open my door. He's probably just asleep, I tell myself. I'm about to enter my room when the other door swings open. I look back
"Mate." A young man - maybe 25 - growled under his breath. I stared at him, my eyes turning a rich green, a sign my wolf wanted to take control.
"Mate..." I mutter in response. He looks at me, his eyes a warm brown. A smile breaks through his otherwise emotionless face.
"Your.... Stunning!" He stutters, his eyes wide as he searches my face. I stand there, an involuntary shiver ran down my spine. He notices, "Sorry, do you want to come in?" He questions. I nod and we walk into his room together.
"So, your my mate." I murmur, staring at the scolding cup of coffee he had handed to me,
"Yeah, I guess so..." He trails off, "So, what's your name?" He questions
"Emily. And you?"
"Connor. How old are you?"
"I'm 20. Let me guess, 25?" I test.
"Spot on." He nods, a smile lighting up his face. "What pack are you from?"
"Blue Mark." A shocked expression danced across his face for a moment
"Blue Mark..." He repeats, his eyes looked worried
"And you?" I prompt after he falls silent
"The Red Moon pack." He says, the look on his face showed it was involuntary.
"The Red Moon!" It's my turn to repeat him, "I thought we - my pack - wiped out their whole pack." His eyes began to brim with tears at my exclamation.
"About that..." He murmurs, "There's somewhere I need to show you. Come with me." He states, reaching out a warm hand to grab mine. I eye the hand warily before taking it. Before we leave the motel I dive into my room and gather my clothes. He guides me to a small, burnt-orange truck. The door creaks as it opens and the engine rumbled deeply as Connor turned the key in the ignition.
"Where are we going?" I question uneasily. I like to be in control of situations and the un-knowing was making me anxious. He runs his head with his hand, clearly trying to find away to answer me. He sighs,
"I'm taking you to see my... Dad." He says slowly. We sit in silence for a moment - the tension was thick enough you could cut through it with a knife.
"Your Dad?" I crack a joke, "Already?" He gives me a small smile. He reaches his hand out and rubs my bare leg. The sparks were tempting and it was hard to prevent my wolf from tearing his clothes off. I take a deep breath and try to calm my nerves as we pull into a small country road only about 1 hour from the motel; 3 hours from the pack. The country road opens up to a small row of houses. Each had an expensive car outside; there was a Lamborghini, a blacked-out Range Rover, a classy Mercedes. I stared at the other unknown brands, my heart rate picking up - his family is rich, sh!t. Just as Connor turns the engine off I reach and tug his arm. He looks at me. "Can I borrow your phone? I need to phone my family, they don't know I left..." I trail off as I imagine Stefan's worried face and Mya pacing around the room I had been sleeping in.
"Oh, sorry. If you had asked me earlier than yeah but there's no service here. When we go back you can explain everything but for now" He pats my hand "Let's just enjoy us." He reaches forward and places a soft kiss on my cheek. I give him a reassuring smile and he climbs out the car.
