I watch her in the candle light. Taking in how the flickering flame complimented her deep brown eyes. She caught me staring and looked down, smiling to herself. She had been so accepting when I told her my whole life story... it would be hard to digest for anyone never mind a mate that only met me a few weeks ago. I could see we were making headway. I opened up to her and, although I didn't know much about her ye, I felt like I'd known her for ages rather than the mere weeks we'd spent together.

When we were finished eating the pizza I had provided we stepped out into the communal living room.

"I've got something to show you." I whisper into her ear before I led her out the front door. Stefan opens the doors to the SUV and we get in together. Stefan begins to drive and, within a few minutes, we reach a large house. "This is my big surprise." I say grinning

"You-" She says, her eyes round in shock

"Before you ask, I knew Emily would tell you - it's in her personality - she can't keep a secret like that for long." I chuckle

"How? When? Why? I-"

"It's my families estate. They've decided to move back to the pack house to give us a chance to be alone and have our own space. And they wanted to be near their friends." I laugh at her face

"Are you going to get out the car?" Stefan suggests, chuckling - like me - when he saw her face. I take her hand and we climb out the car, Stefan sends me wink as he pulls out and goes back to the pack house. I guide her into the house and reveal the open plan bottom floor. A modern kitchen-diner contradicted the outside appearance whilst the large, dark brown rug that lay under a glass table complimented the comfy, corner sofa.  The wooden floors added to the rustic look of the old Tudor-style building. I lead her upstairs and give her a tour of the upper floor. I start at the guest bedroom's (2) each with their own en-suites before taking her to the room I was dreading - the 'nursery'. I open the door and she gasps at the cot, the bright walls, the animal toys.

"Oh." She gasps "I... um."

"My Mother's a bit over excited, to say the least. Don't worry, I'm not expecting it to be used" I confirm, "Yet" I wink, closing the door, and she rolls her eyes at my childish remark.

"It's just that..." She trails off, her face serious again

"It's a bit much?" I question and she nods "Thought so." I chuckle. She opens the next door to reveal a master bedroom. The silver, satin sheets to the large balcony and over-the-top walk-in closet. She giggles as she spins in the centre of the room. It made me happy, seeing her smiling and laughing. Everything seems to have changed after the incident with Casey. I stand there for a moment, watching her let go as she takes in the massive room and the more intricate and astonishing closet that was open for her use. She bites her lip as she looks at the alarm clock.

"I guess we better get some sleep." She says, her face dropping slightly.

"Oh, yeah... I guess so. You can have this room, I'll go in one of the guest rooms." I say, rubbing her shoulder before turning.

"Wait." She calls

"Is something wrong?"

"Nothings wrong. I just wanted to say... I'm sorry for what happened to you." I stare at her, the words 'It's not you fault' on the tip of the tongue but she stops me before I can, "And that I jumped to conclusions when I didn't know the story." She admitted, keeping her gaze fixed at her feet.

"Start over?" I suggest,

"Start over." She agrees. Before I can turn again she pushes up onto her toes and places a gentle kiss on my cheek. Smiling I walk towards the guest bedroom. Before I step through I glance at her still standing in her doorway. "Good night Jasper."

"Good night Mya."

I stand under the cold shower. The icy water cascaded down my back, numbing my whole body. I enjoyed cold showers - it makes you think. It's calming. I stare at the small scar emerging where Casey and push the knife into my arm, the pink-ish raw look made the whole ordeal seem more real; The scar was just a reminder of what could have happened. Switching the water off I step out into the immaculate bathroom. I walked into the bedroom and make my way towards the bed. It felt strange to be in a different room, I was so used to being in the same room for the past 3 years. This house I once called home now felt unfamiliar, maybe it had changed. Or maybe I've changed. Sighing, I climb into the bed and, just when I get comfortable, a small rap at the door rings out into the room. I walk toward the door and swing it open - maybe a little too fast judging by the expression on Mya's face - and stare at the small figure in the doorway inquisitively

"Is everything all right?" I ask

"Um. I was just wondering if maybe... I could sleep with you?" She says looking up from her fixed gaze at the floor. She looks at my still shocked face and shakes her head "Forget it. It was a stupid idea." She mumbles, turning away. But I grab her arm before she can get far,

"Of course you can." I smile "We are mates after all. And we're starting over, remember." She returns my smile as I step aside to allow her into my room. "I'll let you in on a secret." I whisper into her ear, "I didn't want to be alone at the moment either." She let's a small laugh escape her lips. Without another word we both climb into the massive queens sized bed, each turning away from each other. It must look rather comical, two people sleeping on opposite side of the bed. The space between us - although physically small - seemed large. But it was shrinking. Today was a massive improvement - she can actually stand being in the same room as me for the first time since we met. Yes, we hadn't mated yet and yes, I did mark an unwilling mate. But if she can forgive me for being so cold and heartless when we met then maybe - in time - we can put all our differences aside and be the loving mates the Moon Goddess wanted us to be.

Author's Note:

Thank you all for reading, make sure to vote!

It's quite a short chapter but it was just a quick one to move the story along.

So, Jasper revealed why he was so cold last chapter and now he's only gone and got them a house. (Even if it's his parents old one)

And the nursery bit... Only a tad bit awkward on Mara (Jasper's Mum)'s part.
