Connor Pallitan isn't normal, he's known that since the day he was born. Left alone in the woods, cloaked in protective fire, its a wonder the boy survived for a year. But eighteen? A miracle.
But then, all hell breaks loose, and it's up to Conner t...
⠀⠀⠀⠀Dawn made the sky look like it had been set on fire, a hot breeze making the usually cool, crisp morning air sticky and uncomfortable. Demons still crawled all over Iqwrath, which forced it's citizens to be held up inside while Evelyn gathered an army to help her take them out. Joseph was on this team, and so was Bex and Gracyn, per Joseph's request. "You better not be wrong about this, I'm not letting my soldiers be killed because two rookies were to scared to take the kill!" She warned, Joseph only nodded. He clearly understood the risks, which only confused Evelyn even more. This mission was a necessity for their people, and if they failed they might as well have given up. So why, of all times, would Joseph bring rookies into this mission? It seemed unnecessarily reckless.
So, when the soldiers lined up in front of the palace, Evelyn was understandably anxious. But when she was walking up to Rivera, who was as anxious as her, she bit her tongue, filling her with nothing but faith in her brother to ease her worry. "Come back to me safe, understand?" Rivera said, taking her fiancée's face in her hands, Evelyn sighed.
"You know I can't make those promises." She reminded her, which was true, but Rivera shook her head.
"I'm not asking."
Evelyn chuckled, forcing a smile as she kissed Rivera tenderly as she placed a hand on her cheek, while River's hands had slid down to her waist, "don't stress yourself while I'm gone." She whispered, into her lips that were only centimeters apart, River giggled and kissed her again.
"I'm the queen, Eve. Stress is part of the job." She teased before Evelyn kissed her for a third time. Not wanting to talk about work, not right now, it was just the two of them. River smiled into the kiss, placing a hand against her bounded chest, pushing her away, slowly and gently. "Go, your soldiers are waiting for you." She whispered, "I'll be here when you get back, go."
Evelyn sighed and nodded, "I love you." She said with her signature side smile, the one that first made Rivera fall for her.
"I love you too." She replied with a soft, gentle smile. But that smile quickly faded once Evelyn turned her back and ran to the door, her armor clinking as she did. River always felt like this when Evelyn left, terrified that she would never see her again. Never feel her touch, kiss her lips, hold her. It was a constant fear in the back of her mind. But she trusted Evelyn to stay safe, so instead turned away from the distraction and went to work.
Bex, standing in between two unknown men of a much bigger size, gripped her sword with determination as the door of the palace opened, revealing Queen Evelyn next to her brother, Joseph, who'd asked Bex to accompany them on the mission. As a sort of 'first lesson.'
Bex thought he was insane, and made sure to tell him how she felt about it, but he was persistent. "We're just killing the demons, you've killed them before, you'll be ahead of the game."
