The smell of rotted meat of some sort almost burnt my nose off. I quickly turned around and zoomed outta the door faster than I could think about it.

I ran back to the room Gareth gave me and figured I needed some sleep before I could digest that smell still lingering in my nose.

I woke up with a full mind and empty stomach. I wanted to talk to Beth before I went to eat. I walked to her nearby room with a occasional "Hi's", waves, and awkward smiles to some passing strangers.

I knocked on Beth's room and heard a soft voice tell me to come in. I walked in slowly.

"Hey" I barely managed out.

"Hi" She responded.

"Wanna go get breakfast?" I asked looking into her blueish-green eyes.

"Sure" she mumbled. After a moment she stood up and we walked out. We began walking but before I said anything I looked around.

"So I was walking around yesterday" I started, "at night and I found a room, full of rooted meat. It was so gross." Beth looked at me.

"Why are you snooping around?" She questioned.

"What do you mean, they are strangers. You really think people just let people in anymore? You can't trust anyone! Look at all the groups I was with, Look what happened to your group." I almost yelled, barely meaning too.

Beth immediately stopped in her tracks, and her eyes sharpened on me.

"People are the best defensive against walkers, something Rick used to tell me." She got a little chocked up talking about Rick.

"We are not the enemies, we are their guests. If only Rick or daddy was around....." I could barely hear the last words she said.

Talking about Rick and her dad make her emotional because I saw the tears swelling up in her eyes, she quickly swept her feelings under the rug and wiped her eyes.

"That doesn't matter, okay? We haven't even began to talk about why you ran off from me and Andy." She stated. We started walking again and I walked ahead.

"I made it and I am alive" I started walking faster and didn't turn around, regardless of her calls.

"It doesn't matter." I turned around and walked ahead again till

Mary at the grill and Gareth talking to a few people came into view. I went and sat down and Beth sat across me awkwardly.

Mary brought us eggs and bacon shortly after we sat done. I looked at Beth, her eyes lite up like Christmas. She dug into them hungrily.

I picked around at my dish, didn't have much of an appetite left after seeing that...meat.

I pushed my dish in front of me and Beth eyebrows furrowed at me.

"Not hungry" I simply replied.

"You can have 'em." It's like I didn't have to tell her twice, she dug into my food. I rested my on the table and felt the hot sun already burning into my back.

My attention was caught when I heard a chair being dragged towards the table I was at. I looked up to see grinning teeth, brighter than the sun. He sat down.

"What a day" Gareth simply stated.

"Yeah." I only agreed.

"Not hungry?" He asked.

"Not really" I said, finally pulling my head all the way off the table only to notice Gareth's smile still wide and bright.

I grinned at him.
