I sat in the passenger's seat of Weston's car and it was after the football game. Except we'd both gone to my house to shower, now it was our job to go to the twenty-four hour Walmart and get things. Luke was staying home and helped out my parents of getting everyone packed up. My dad, Matt, and Carson were leaving out tonight so they wouldn't have to drive to Chapel Hill in the morning.
"How's therapy been going?" I asked him as I looked at the grocery list
"Pretty well, I've only been to one session but it's still good." Weston answered as he drove
"That's good." I responded, "How's Amanda?"
Weston came to a stop light, "She's good. The baby is due March and they're debating if they want to find out what it is or let it be a surprise."
"My mom found out with both of her twins, but not for Carson and Gabe." I told him
"Do you ever think you'll be like your parents one day?" Weston asked me
I shook my head, "Probably not if you're talking about like how fast everything went. Like my mom found out she was pregnant when she was still in college. I don't see myself having a kid at twenty-two. I need to establish myself first, you know? But my parents were loaded they've been to every continent except Antarctica. They did all of that before they were twenty-two. So no."
"Well yeah, what worked for your parents won't necessarily work for you. But you're parents are supportive no matter what." Weston bought up
"Yeah, so my dad told me about Louisville." I grinned
Weston crackled a smile, "It's true. I got an offer.
""That's so cool and so good to hear. First one?" I asked Weston
"Nah, the first was Florida Atlantic. I'm hoping to get one from Alabama, LSU, UF, you know schools like that." He told me as he drove
I nodded, "Following in your Dad's footsteps at Alabama?"
Weston shrugged, "I feel like it would be a lot of pressure at Alabama, but at the same time I love it. Then again people would be like 'Oh damn, his dad was better' you know shit like that."
"That's how my dad was, with his Dad's legacy. I'm sure Luke feels the same way, so talk to him. Well you've been talking about that since what? Pee-wee?" I wondered
"Yeah. I wish I would of done baseball or something sometimes. But football is what I'm good at, like I've been doing it for ten years. It's all I know." Weston rambled as he pulled into Walmart
"So what has your dad done about Ed?" I asked
Weston pulled into a parking spot, "The police know, but he's good at hiding. I can't go anywhere by myself other than school."
I unbuckled my seatbelt, "Have you talked to your birth mom?"
"The police have questioned her but from what I've heard she's playing dumb." Weston sighed as he got out of the car
I got out of the car and walked towards Weston. He locked the car before we headed inside of Walmart.
"Why do you not feel safe around me? Is the voice inside of your head saying 'Lennox it's eleven at night, why are you out with him after what happened?'" Weston questioned me
"Nope, I feel the safest when I'm around you." I smiled
Weston grinned
"Did you feel like that around Brandon?" He asked with a playful tone
"God no," I answered him as I grabbed a cart "you wouldn't catch me dead at this time with him. He loves sneaking into college parties. It brutal."
