When morning came, Cleopatra stepped out of her room and headed into the kitchen. She ignored everyone else as she got herself her breakfast. She wasn’t all that hungry, but thought she better have something to eat. She skipped dinner again last night, but that was fine. She wasn’t hungry then either.

She thought about whether or not she should make some breakfast for Tyson. He didn’t deserve it, but she probably should. If she didn’t, it would only make them accuse her of being cruel and mean. She wasn’t. And she wasn’t going to give them anything to work with, either.

Throwing something together quickly, Cleopatra paused when she heard a knock at the door. It immediately reminded her that there was someone else coming over to give pity to Tyson. Another person to give her grief for trying to help.

Cleopatra listened as Hiro walked to the door and opened it. There was a brief greeting, and then more footsteps. Cleopatra peered out of the kitchen to eye up her newest opponent and paused. She gasped when her eyes fell on a guy with two-toned coloured hair, blue markings on his face and piercing red eyes.

He was Kai Hiwatari. While she had seen picture of him in magazines and on TV, she had to admit that he was more handsome in person. He glided across the floor with ease, hardly making a sound. He was speaking silently with Hiro for a moment. Suddenly, his turned those eyes toward Cleopatra and she held her breath. She expected him to look her up and down and perhaps smirk, silently liking what he saw.

Instead, he looked away, no emotion on his face.

Cleopatra was surprised by his reaction, or lack of. She soon started to feel really angry. So it was Kai who was talking shit about her. She should have known. Even now he looked down at her.

Cold-hearted bastard.

Inwardly furious, Cleopatra grabbed the tray with Tyson’s breakfast and stomped toward his room. She had to remind herself not to show her anger, not to let them see that they were getting to her.

“What’s for breakfast this time?” Tyson asked when Cleopatra stepped into his room.

“Cereal,” Cleopatra told him plainly.

“Hn. Just cereal?”

Tyson wasn’t the one who asked that question. Narrowing her eyes, Cleopatra turned around to see Kai standing behind her, his face as emotionless and cruel as usual.

“Kai!” Tyson nearly squealed in delight as Kai stepped further into the room and over to his bed. Tyson then did something surprising; he reached out and wrapped his arms around Kai’s waist, clinging to him. “I’m so glad you’re here!”

Cleopatra was shocked by what she was seeing. She then expected Kai to hit Tyson on the head and roughly push him away. Instead, Kai just stood there and allowed this pig to hang onto him.

“Well, you’re still alive, I see,” Kai muttered and rolled his eyes. He then patted Tyson on the head, not at all looking comfortable, but he wasn’t disgusted either.

Cleopatra couldn’t believe what she was seeing. It was a joke, right? Something to unnerve her. “Excuse me,” she said as she roughly placed the breakfast tray on Tyson’s table. “But who are you supposed to be?”

Kai glanced over in her direction. “That’s none of your concern,” he told her plainly.

“You better believe that it’s my concern,” Cleopatra hissed at him, annoyed with his attitude. “Tyson’s my patient.”

“Where are your nursing credentials?”

Cleopatra narrowed her eyes and placed her hands on her hips. “What?”

Kai stared at her silently for a moment, Tyson still clinging to him. He then placed his hand on Tyson’s head and pushed him away, Tyson’s arms falling away silently. Kai took a step forward and folded his arms over his chest. “You heard me; Tyson can only be your patient if you are a professional with authorised credentials. You don’t have any? Well, then, you are simply a girl who is looking after him. And anyone else is allowed to do the same.”

Cleopatra was stunned by what he said for a moment. She then became more irritated. “I don’t know who you think you are, but I am under orders from Mr Dickinson himself that I am to nurse Tyson back to health,” she explained simply. “I earned this place.”

“By running him down with your car,” Kai retorted sharply.

Cleopatra drew in a sharp breath, mentally telling herself to keep calm. He was trying to make her lose her patience and temper. “That was an accident, which he caused. He walked out in front of me.”

Kai continued to simply look at her, no emotion on his face at all. “That isn’t what Tyson tells us.”

Cleopatra hissed at him. “And you believe him over me?”

“Yes, why wouldn’t I?” Kai was quick to reply.

“Of course you would,” Cleopatra snapped in reply and folded her arms over her chest. “Men like you need to stick together.”

“Yes, absolutely.”

Cleopatra rolled her eyes and smirked. “You know what they say, if you were twice as smart as you think you are, you’d still be stupid.”

“Yes, yes,” Kai said dismissively, copying her by rolling his eyes as well. “Your insult is so scathing that it physically hurts,” he muttered in pure sarcasm. He then suddenly took a threatening step forward, his arms dropping from his chest.

Then, surprising Cleopatra immensely, Kai snared her by the arm and all but threw her out of the room. “Now, get the fuck out and let me get to work,” Kai said as he let go of Cleopatra’s arm and grabbed the door.

Cleopatra stumbled backwards, truly shocked that he would have the guts to actually touch her. She spun around and gave him a cold glare, a glare that would put his to shame. “You can’t kick me out!” she yelled.

“I just did,” Kai replied plainly and then slammed the door shut in her face.

“You…” Cleopatra was gobsmacked by how he treated her. “Asshole!” she then screamed, pounding on the door with her fist. “How dare you!?”

There was no response. The door was tightly shut, locked actually. Cleopatra couldn’t believe it. That was far, far worst then anyone had ever treated her. He actually grabbed her and pushed her out of the room!

Kai shouldn’t be allowed to treat her like that!

Furious, Cleopatra spun on her heel and stalked through the dojo. Wait until the other hear about Kai’s terrible treatment of her. She didn’t deserve that. They would agree that she didn’t deserve that!

Cleopatra quickly found Hiro and walked straight up to him. “Do you know what that asshole did?” she said to him, angry and frustrated. “He kicked me out of Tyson’s room!”

However, instead of looking concerned and asking if she was alright, Hiro took a slow sip of his coffee and shrugged. “That’s what Kai does,” he said. “He takes charge of things.”

“And you’re ok with this?” Cleopatra asked, amazed that Kai was allowed to do such things. “He just comes barging in, acting as if he owns the place and starts telling everyone what to do.”

Again, Hiro took a sip of his coffee. “Hey, isn’t that exactly the same thing you did?”

“I did no such thing!” Cleopatra yelled at him.

“Keep telling yourself that,” Hiro muttered as he took a step to the side and then walked around her.

Cleopatra gritted her teeth together tightly, tears once again threatening to fall. “If assholes where planes, this place would be an airport!” she snarled.

“Uh huh,” Hiro muttered as he continued to walk. “Never heard that before.”

Cleopatra was furious. There was no way she was going to lose to this Kai asshole. No way was she going to let Hiro keep treating her like shit. No one was going to take her place. No one was going to tell her what to do. No way was she going to be ran out of the dojo.

She’ll show everyone how brilliant she was. And then they’ll all fall in love with her.
