Cleopatra felt herself getting nervous.
Tyson was starting to get better. He could walk around now without aide. Could get himself food and wrap his own leg up. He still had a few limitations, though. Still, he was indeed getting better.
But if he recovered completely, Cleopatra would be kicked out. Hiro was a complete asshole, so he’d definitely kick her out. Even though she had nowhere else to go and was completely on her own. He didn’t care. He didn’t care about anyone but himself.
But Cleopatra couldn’t leave yet. Not yet. There had to be a way to let her stay a little while longer. She just needed a little more time to get through Hiro’s defensive barriers and into that ice cold heart of his. She also had to win over Tyson’s affections. Sure, he was an idiot, but he was a popular idiot.
She needed to do something to prolong Tyson’s recovery. Just enough so she could get under their skin and leave a real impression, so they’ll never forget about her, even if they do kick her out in the end. They’ll come searching for her, looking for forgiveness from her.
What could she do, though? She didn’t want to physically hurt anyone.
In desperation, Cleopatra looked around the kitchen where she was preparing soup for the idiot’s dinner. She then quickly looked under the sink and a thought immediate occurred to her; Rat poison.
Just a little bit. Enough to make him feel sick. She’ll blame it on a stomach bug, saying he probably caught it from one of his little friends. They’ll have no proof otherwise. It should be fine. It’ll be for his and his brother’s benefit.
She just needed a little bit more time.
Dipping the tip of the spoon into the white powder, Cleopatra picked up a few grains and then placed the spoon into the soup she was making. She stirred it in, smiling that no one will know any different. She placed the soup into a bowl and served it on a tray. She then quickly carried the tray into Tyson’s room, where he was waiting for her.
He looked up and almost began drooling at the smell of her food. “What’s that?” he asked.
“Soup,” Cleopatra smiled as she placed the tray on his lap. She then took a step back to watch. She had to make sure that he ate his food and had to be here when he started to feel a little ill.
Cleopatra almost clapped her hands in delight when Tyson’s began shovelling the soup into his mouth. She didn’t know how long it would take for the poison to take hold, as she only put a little bit it.
“So, how was it?” she asked as Tyson was half way through his meal.
Suddenly, Tyson covered his mouth with his hand, gagging. He then leaned over the side of his bed and threw up. Cleopatra jumped back and heaved at the smell, disgusted by the sight. Tyson started coughing and crying at the same time. Cleopatra didn’t want to get too close as she didn’t want him to throw up all over her.
She hadn’t anticipated this. She only used a little bit of rat poison. A tablespoon only!
“What’s wrong?” Kai asked as he stepped into the room. He ran over when he saw Tyson coughing and spluttering. He didn’t look at the vomit, instead focusing his attention on Tyson. “Fuck!” he cursed as he looked up over at Cleopatra. “Don’t just stand there! Call for an ambulance!”
Cleopatra wanted to tell him not to tell her what to do. But instead she nodded mutely and ran out of the room, relieved that she was no longer near that disgusting vomit. As she looked for the phone, she ran into Hiro.
Shaken by what had happened, Cleopatra threw herself into Hiro’s arms, tears running down her cheeks. “Tyson’s throwing up. I need to call for an ambulance,” she whimpered.
