Loki's P.O.V.

"Alright, time to find (y/n)..." I sigh, pulling out the letter from the package. I unfold it and read it through. The address of the cafe is written down along with a few details about (y/n). I fold the letter back up and slip it into the back pocket of my trousers. Before I open the door, a black jacket on a peg to my right catches my eye. Deciding to wear it, I grab it from the peg and pull it on. Taking a deep breath, I leave the apartment, locking it behind me. I stuffed the key into my of my jacket pockets but feel something brush my hand. I pull it out to find the small picture of (y/n) from the letter back in Asgard. Just seeing the picture gives me a warm feeling and I suddenly get an urge to put it in the wallet that Thor gave me. After carefully slipping it safely into the wallet, I put it in my back pocket and head towards the elevator. The doors aren't opening. It takes me a moment to remember that I have to press the arrow button to the side of the doors. They slide open and I step inside. I stare at the arrangements of buttons on the wall. I eventually press the button with a G on it because I assume it means 'ground'. The elevator whirs into action and starts to lower itself towards the bottom of the building. It doesn't take long to reach the bottom and when the doors slide open again, I head outside. Pulling out the letter, I look at the address again. I have no idea where this place is. The streets are full of local Midgardians, so I assume at least one of them has the brain capacity to direct me to the right place. I spot a young man in similar clothing to me walking down the street. "Excuse me?" I begin but he ignores me and walks past. I quickly catch up to him and tap his shoulder. "I'm looking for-"

"What?" He snaps and yanks out two plastic objects from his ears. Sighing through my annoyance, I start again.

"I'm trying to find this address, but I'm a bit lost." I show him the letter. He eyes me carefully before pointing across the street. I look over in that direction to see a green shop. The sign above it reads 'Starbucks Coffee' and next to it is a picture of what seems to be a mermaid with two tails and a crown. "Ah, thank you." The man lets out an exhale in reply before stuffing the plastic things back into his ears and walking off. I quickly cross the road and peer in through the large glass windows. Both sides of the shop are lined with circular tables and chairs. It seems rather empty today with only a few tables occupied. I try to spot (y/n) but I can't seem to see her from outside. I have to go in. Pushing open the doors unleashes a wave of warmth on my face and a strange smell fills my nose. I assume the smell is from the beverages being served. It's quite a bitter smell but also quite warm and welcoming. I walk in, letting the glass doors swing closed behind me. I head over to what seems like the counter. The counter itself is stocked with all kinds of foods. Next to it is a glass box which is filled with cakes and pies that look delicious. By a rumbling machine, I spot a short young man with ridiculously green hair and hazel eyes. He wears a light blue dress shirt, a yellow tie and a green vest with black pants and combat boots. Over the top of his shirt, he wears a green apron with a tag that reads 'Rem'. "Excuse me?" I call over the counter.

"Oh, sorry about that!" He apologises before looking down at something under the counter. "Hey, stop messing around under there and serve the customer!" He orders. There's a thump from under the counter and suddenly a girl springs up.

"Ow... I wasn't messing around, I was making a menu tower... Alright, I'm on it." She mumbles, rubbing her head. "How can I help you?" It takes me a moment to realise who I'm talking to. (y/n). My heart almost explodes and I have to refrain myself from jumping across the counter and embracing her. I feel my mouth moving but no words come out. She stares at me, her eyes confused with a hint of something else. "Hey, earth to- uh... What's your name?" I clench my fists and force words out.

"Lo- Tom! It's... Tom." I gasp, unable to control myself.

"Okay... Tom. What can I get you?" It's so weird hearing her call me that name. But anything she says is like heaven to my ears.

"Um... Uh..." I have no idea what to get. I stare up at the menus on the wall but all the names are so confusing. "What do you suggest?"

"How about a cappuccino?" She suggests. I was hoping she'd say something that I'd heard of. "Okay, maybe not..." She mutters, noticing my confused expression. "A mocha?" I stay silent. "Latte?"

"Uh-"

"Okay, so you're probably not a coffee person. Hang on, you're British right? You've got the whole accent and everything. How about some tea?" She asks. Finally, a normal drink! I remember mother making tea for me and Thor back in Asgard.

"Yes, tea sounds good." I smile. She returns the smile, giving a warm feeling in my chest.

"Great! You seem like a brewed tea sorta guy..." Her eyes seem to analyse my face. "Right, what would you like? We have Chamomile Herbal Blend, Mint Citrus Tea, Jasmine Pearls Tea, Chai Tea-"

"What do you recommend?" I ask quickly.

"Well, you seem like a more traditional tea drinker... How about Earl Grey?"

"What's in it?"

"Ugh... You're making this job so hard!" She groans but I hear a slight giggle. (y/n) pulls out a leaflet from under the counter and starts reading from it.

"Earl Grey, a bright blend of black tea, fragrant bergamot and soft lavender."

"Sounds great. I'll take that, please."

"Praise the heavens, Tom has ordered!" She laughs, pressing some buttons on a machine. "Would you like some food with that?"

"No thank you."

"Oh come on! I've seen you eyeing that chocolate muffin!"

"Fine." I sigh. She quickly plucks the muffin from the shelf and puts it on a plate. She slides it over to me and presses more buttons on the machine.

"Okay, that will be $5.47." The number flashes up on a small screen in front of me. "Will you be paying with cash or card?"

"Uh, card." I say and pull out my wallet. I slide out the silver card. She holds out a small machine with numbered buttons below a screen.

"It's contactless."

"Hm?"

"You can just hold the card over the screen and it will pay automatically."

"Ah, thank you." I hold the card over the screen until it makes a small beep.

"There we go, now you can take your muffin and sit at a table. The drink will be ready shortly." She smiles at me as I thank her and take my plate to an empty two person table. I can't stop staring at (y/n). I've dreamt about her for so long that seeing her like this feels unreal. My drink is prepared rather quickly. "Tom?" My head snaps up to the sound of her voice. She's standing behind the counter with a tall brown cup. I quickly make my way over to her. Even though it has a plastic lid, I can still see steam rising from the gaps. "You strike me as a busy guy so I put it in a travel cup for you."

"Actually, I think I'm going to drink it here." Slowly picking up the drink, I see a small smile on her face. It quickly disappears as she notices me looking.

"That's a good idea. It is kinda chilly outside."

"Is it? I hadn't really noticed. Thank you again." She just stands there, slightly awkwardly, as if she's waiting for something. Am I missing something here? After a moment of silence, she sighs.

"Well, there's another customer waiting so... I'd better get to them." She flashes a half smile.

"Ah, okay. Well, I'll be seeing you then?" I laugh nervously, switching the cup to the other hand because it was starting to burn a little.

"Yeah, I hope so. Have a nice day." And with that, she walks off to serve another customer. I make my way back to my table and take a sip of the tea. It's wonderful, possibly even better than the one my mother makes. I try the muffin next. I'm glad that (y/n) made me buy it. The sweet taste takes me back to when I was a child, stealing the food from the palace kitchens. But I can't take my eyes off of her. She occasionally glances at me before quickly looking away. After all these years, after all she's been through, she's still the beautiful girl I fell in love with. I hate not being able to hold her in my arms. But for now, I'm just happy to get to see her.
