-Author's Note-

It's been a while, hasn't it? I'm so sorry to keep you guys waiting, I'll try my best to update this more often. I really want to get it finished so I can move on to other projects. Sorry for the wait, but here you go!

"What if he won't help us?" (y/n) asks as we stand outside the giant doors to the great hall.

"Don't worry my dear, he will." Frigga smiles reassuringly at her. My mother does tend to have a calming effect on people. I remember when I was a child she could stop my tears so quickly with that voice. And no matter how bad the situation was, she could always make me believe that everything was alright. My father won't listen to me, but I hope he'll listen to Frigga. "Are you ready?"

"Yes." I can tell that (y/n) is trying to be brave, but I can see in her eyes that she's terrified. As if by instinct, I reach for her hand. Her fingers entwine with mine and I can feel her relaxing next to me. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Thor grinning. The doors slowly open and Frigga walks forward. The three of us follow closely behind. My father is sitting proudly on his throne, I think he knows what's about to happen.

"Loki, you have returned sooner than expected. I assume you have a reason for bringing this Midgardian into Asgard?" His voice is calm yet still so threatening. He knows that (y/n) is part Valkyrie, so why does he treat her as if she's nothing?

"Father, we need your help. I know you probably don't want to after everything that I've done but this is the last thing I'll ever ask of you." I fill my voice with as much assertiveness as possible but his presence is completely overpowering.

"What is it that you want?" He stares down at me and I know that whatever I say next determines my entire future.

"I'm in love with (y/n). I never thought I was capable of such an emotion but right now it overwhelms me. She brought out the good in me and showed me that even monsters can be loved. I want to be with her for the rest of my life but that's impossible. I'm going to live thousands of years more than her. How am I supposed to do that when I can't stand being away from her for more than a single day?"

"Loki, everything you are is built upon deception. How do I know that this is not just one of your illusions?"

"Father, I can lie about many things but my love for (y/n) is not one of them. How do I know you're not lying when you say you love mother?"

"Don't you dare question my love for her!" He booms.

"And don't you dare question mine!"

"That is enough." Frigga's voice is like a mouse compared to the lion's roar of my father but she still manages to silence both of us. "Odin, we have been together for many years. I have seen many types of love. Love for our people, love for our children, and love for each other. When I look and Loki and (y/n), I see no difference. No lies, no deception. It is easy to let your anger blind you but this is not hard to see. You may see the mortal as a curse but I see her as a blessing. As a king, you must put the people before yourself, and you must do the same with your family. You must help them."

"Frigga..." For once in his life, Odin seems to be speechless. He looks down into her eyes, seemingly in deep thought.

"Please, Father." I beg, squeezing (y/n)'s hand tightly.

"I must admit, I have never seen Loki like this before. It reminds me of when I was with Jane..." Thor seems to trail off, saddened by the memories that suddenly came back to him.

"I cannot extend (y/n)'s life. It is impossible." No, this can't be true.

"Father-"

"But there is another way." I can hear (y/n)'s rapid breathing beside me.

"Anything, I'll do whatever it takes."

"I can shorten yours."

"Shorten mine?"

"I'll have to strip away everything that makes you a god. Your strength, your powers, your illusions. You will have nothing except your mortal body. Are you really willing to take all of that away just to live a single century with this girl?" A few years ago, the idea of being powerless would have enraged me. I couldn't live without power. My magic is everything to me, yet I am nothing without (y/n).

"Yes."
