"(y/n), calm down. I know-"

"No, you don't know! For the past 3 years my life has been a lie. I've been forced to believe that everything that happened was a dream. And then you waltz back in like it's all fine. Why- Why didn't you tell me!" I try to embrace her again but she steps away, her eyes no longer shining with the passion I saw just a few moments ago.

"They wouldn't let me- Tony and Fury, they thought it would be safer for you to live here. To have a normal life."

"How could my life possibly be normal. As far as I was concerned, I had no family! I was all alone, stuck working at some stupid cafe and all I had for comfort was my dreams." As if a protective bubble has been broken, I can feel the chilling rain on my skin. It creeps through my body, engulfing all warmth that she had created.

"But (y/n), your dreams are here now. I'm here. It killed me to stay away from you-"

"Show me who you are." She demands. I stare at her in shock for a moment. "I want to see Loki. Not Tom. Not even a blue Tom. I want to see the Norse God that I fell in love with." I look into (y/n)'s eyes, they reflect a sort of fragility. Like a still pool that could be disturbed by even the tiniest movements. Without looking away, I let myself relax. Only now do I realise how tiring it was to hold this illusion for so long. The familiar weight of my armour returns and my vision goes blurry for a moment as my eyes change colour. Strange, my armour usually makes me feel powerful. But right now, I feel like I'm made of glass. How can I be so weak when I'm protected by something so strong? I can't tell what (y/n)'s feeling. I can only imagine that she's hurt... Confused. The only other time that I felt like this was when I found out that Odin was not my father.

"You know... When I found out that Odin had been lying to me, I felt betrayed. My life had been a lie. I was angry. Furious. I wanted to destroy everything around me. But eventually, I realised that father's decision to take me from that frozen rock might have been for the best." Her gaze falls to the floor. I take this opportunity to step forward, carefully wrapping my arms around her.

"Loki..." She whispers.

"Hm?" Something suddenly whistles past my ear and I hear (y/n) gasp. I pull away to see some sort of metal dart in her neck. Her body becomes completely limp and falls into my arms. "What the-"

"Loki, step away from her." The familiar voice of Nick Fury rings through the streets. I turn to see him pointing a strange looking gun at me.

"What's going on?" I pull (y/n) closer to me.

"It's a sedative, for safety precautions. Don't make me knock you out too. Now, put (y/n) down and come over here." He orders. I don't move. I'm not letting her go ever again. In a flash of lightning, Thor appears beside him.

"Loki!" He gasps. "What have you done?"

"I haven't done anything!" I look down at (y/n), whose face seems so calm now.

"We had a deal. You could see her, but you couldn't interfere with her life. You've put yourself and her in danger." Fury takes a few steps forward but I glare at him, forcing him to stop. Thor also approaches me.

"Loki... Come on. Just put her down and we can deal with the situation." I don't meet my brother's gaze. I can't stop looking at her. The wonderful woman that I fell in love with.

"She remembers." I say calmly, a smile creeping onto my face. The two men stand in a moment of shock, but Fury doesn't lower his weapon.

"Don't make me sedate you."

"And why shouldn't she remember? This is a wonderful thing. A beautiful thing. You already stripped away her powers, took her wings away. You took everything from her! So right now, I am her everything. And you want to take me away too." I lower myself onto the floor, carefully placing (y/n) down. But I don't get up. I rest her head on my lap. "I won't let you take her again."

"I've heard enough." Fury sighs and I hear the clunk of the gun. But nothing happens. I turn to see the metal dart lodged in the small blue cube, hovering inches from my face. (y/n)'s cube. But not only did it stop the bullet, it stopped everything else. The rain hovers in the air. The cars are still and silent. Silhouettes of figures stand as statues around us. Thor's worried expression is clear but unmoving. And Fury is frozen, still clutching the dart gun. I glance down to see the slow rise and fall of (y/n)'s chest, she hasn't been affected. I reach for the cube. It is glowing a dim blue and the surface is warm to touch. Turning it around, I examine where the dart has hit it. The surface has been cracked and it seems to be making some sort of noise. Only when I hold it close to my ear can I finally hear it clearly. Laughter. (y/n)'s laughter.

"Loki!" Her cheerful voice calls out my name. "Loki, it's me!" It sounds so full of life, yet her body lays silently on my lap.

"(y/n)..."

"Loki... I've missed you so much. I can't wait to go back to Asgard." I feel tears rolling down my cheeks but as soon as they leave my skin, they also freeze in the air.

"How do I get you back?" I ask quietly, enjoying the warmth emitting from the small box.

"It's simple. Just set me free." And then she falls silent. I hold it in front of me, staring at the metal dart. I grab it and slowly start to pull. It's lodged in quite firmly. I pull harder but it still won't budge. Taking a deep breath, I yank it as hard as I can. Blue energy suddenly bursts from the cube like a wave, blowing everything away. Everything around us is gone. There's just... Light. It's like a moment of complete calm. "Loki... You did it." I look down to see (y/n) smiling up at me, her eyes glowing with joy.

"(y/n) I..." There are only three words running through my mind. "I love you." She doesn't reply with words, but with a giggle. Slowly, she begins to stand up. Taking my hand, she pulls me up.

"I love you too." She smiles mischievously and places a light kiss on my lips before pulling me along.

"Where are we going?" I ask, staring at the infinite whiteness ahead of us.

"Home." I don't question her. I just walk next to her, her hand in mine. And suddenly, the floor regains its colour. But it isn't the grey concrete of the New York streets, it's a rainbow of colours. Sparkling magnificently as it always does. The rainbow bridge. The world ahead of us seems to paint itself. Golden lines dance around to create the city of Asgard.

"Is this real?" I ask, staring in awe.

"Of course it is!" (y/n) laughs, the wind gently blowing her hair back as we walk down the bridge.

"What about Fury and Thor? Aren't they still in New York?"

"I'm pretty sure that's where we left them." I can't help but smile at the humour in her voice. "Don't worry, I'm sure they'll figure it out eventually."

"But won't they try and stop us?"

"Well, they tried. And look where we are now." This is all so unreal. Just earlier she was a normal girl who had no idea who I was. And now she's (y/n) again. So calm. It's strange to see her like this again. "Hey, why are you looking so distant?" She stops and stares at me.

"It's just... I can't believe you're back. That we're... Together again." I sigh.

"You know, it's been 3 years. I can't wait to stretch my wings again." She stretches her arms out and steps towards the edge of the bridge.

"But- They took your wings."

"They took my memories too. But I'm here, in love with you. Now, are you going to join me?" Shaking my head in amusement, I step forward and hold her hand. And there they are, the magnificent wings that I thought I'd never see again. But they aren't the same jet black ones. They're white. As if she is no longer part Valkyrie, but part angel. "Ready?" She asks, her voice filled with excitement.

"Always." and with that, we step off the edge. For a moment, we fall. But then, we fly. And it's beautiful. She's beautiful. She's changed my life for the better. We've been through so much. At this point, I doubt even death can tear us apart. I don't know if it's love or some other power that lies deep within us. But at this moment, they are one and the same. She is mine and I am hers. Our souls are forever joined with an eternal bond.

So there we have it. The end of this series. You have joined me on an emotional journey through two books. I want to thank everyone for their votes, comments and support. Another chapter will come where I show my appreciation in greater detail. But until then, this is the final chapter. Thank you.
