The clock struck twelve a.m, sending loud dings throughout the manor. Black Hat sat in a dark corner. Flug was sleeping, courtesy of Black Hat 'accidentally' destroying the coffee maker. Flug thought he could handle it, going about his normal schedule without coffee, but considering he drained two pots of coffee for his working hours, he barely made it to 11:30.
Black Hat had ordered 5.0.5 to stay with Flug in his bedroom, in case he should wake up and try to get back to work.
"No matter what he says to you, hold him down until he wears himself out"
5.0.5 had saluted him, before running off to Flug's bedroom.
Black Hat had gotten TONS of work done, deciding that the silence could be productive. He finished all of the paperwork, he scheduled appointments, he took care of the concerns of his residents ("If you keep your activities in the designated sites, then you won't have to worry about the forest creatures, now will you?").
Now he was bored again. He briefly considered waking Flug up, just to fluster him a bit. Watching the scientist curl into a tiny ball of anxiety and sweat was quite fun; however, he knew the human needed rest.
Thank the Gods he recieved the message when he did.
It's Susan. We need to talk. I'm outside.
Black Hat didn't want to go to the trouble of checking the cameras in the security office, so he merely materialized on the sidewalk outside. Susan was a foot in front of him, wearing a black hoodie and jeans.
Is this her detective outfit?
He chuckled, taking one long step, right behind the woman.
"You're two days early" he said softly.
Susan jumped, whipping around.
"What the hell is your problem?!" she whisper-screamed.
"That was too easy, I thought you'd be more on your guard when you're around me Razor" Black Hat grinned.
"Don't call me that, I don't want anyone knowing my secret identity"
"Then why would you tell an enemy?"
"I know I can trust you for now" Black Hat cocked an eyebrow. So naive.
"As I said before, you're two days early"
Susan breathed, mustering her courage.
"I would like to look inside your house"
Black Hat closed his eye. Another migraine, most definitely.
"Not even to stay, just to see Dementia's room!"
"Flug did a full sweep of that room, you wouldn't find anything"
"At least let me take a few pictures of the room, so I know that I'm not missing anything"
Black Hat rolled this around in his head. There was no place in the world that a hero could be weaker in than his home. And Flug had taken certain precautions to ensure that she would be completely docile on their property.
"Fine"
He snapped his fingers, and the pair appeared in a pool of shadow in Dementia's old room.
The area had been completely untouched, aside from Dementia's body being moved. The window was still open, sending the cool January breeze in.
Susan turned to Black Hat, dazed by the warping of reality around her.
"Not exactly subtle are you?" she said, gathering her senses.
