Dreams and wishes are different things. A dream is a whole story, a whole lifetime that you plan or desire to happen.
Or just a summer.
A wish is a small fraction of the dream, just a small part that you hope for. Typically a wish is something you want currently, while a dream looks further into the future.
My summer was full of wishes and dreams.
But the fault in them was not the dreams or wishes themselves, it was the fact that they existed. A dream is supposed to lead your choices and maybe one day you'll get to where you want to go. A wish gives you something to grasp, to hold onto when you're going through a dark time in your life and reaching out for something to hold.
My wishes let me fall. My dreams just led me to a broken heart.
As the beautiful Augustus Waters put it, the world is not a wish-granting factory.
I think you can use the words wish and dream interchangeably.
