We were driving in his car, just after a shift we'd worked together had finished. We were headed up to Red Robin to eat dinner, before meeting some of his friends at the movies. We were going to see a horror movie, a genre I hated more than anything in the world, but somehow he had convinced me to go with him.
He told me it wouldn't be so bad, and I'd be fine with him there. So I agreed.
We were driving along in dead silence, and he asked me to go through his phone playlists and hook one up to the aux.
Knowing his password, I grabbed his phone and plugged it in.
He had a Disney hits playlist.
When I questioned him about it, he blushed and stammered something about it being for when his little sister was in the car.
I didn't ask him about the text he received while I was going through his music. The text from a girl named "Kate", the text that said nothing but a winking emoji.
I put it out of my mind and danced and sang along to Hakuna Matata with him.
Because no worries, right?
