The next day was glorious sunshine and heat, Lindsey chose that it was going to be the day he'd put all the pool chairs and tables outside, Stevie was sitting on the side with her feet dangling in, watching Lindsey move stuff around

"God it's hot..." Stevie said fanning herself

"Stevie you're wearing all black, go and find your swimsuit and put it on!" He said

"I don't know where it is..."

"Yes you do, I took it out the box, don't try and pretend just because you don't want to wear it!"

"Linds...my stomach isn't good..."

"Stephanie! I'm your husband, I love you and your body, now go put it on."

Stevie eventually got up and walked into the house, going to their room and finding her swimsuit from the drawer, undressing she slid it on, she felt eyes watching her and realised it was Lindsey so she shimmied her hips a little more, turning round to an empty doorway, furrowing her brow she went downstairs and back outside

"Baby, were you just upstairs!" She questioned Lindsey

"No, I've been trying to put this umbrella up, why?"

"Nothing, don't worry about it." She smiled and he finally looked at her, before whistling

"Fuck me dead!" His jaw fell open

"Is it bad?!"

"My god, you are absolutely breathtaking!" He walked to her and put his hands on her behind, pulling her against him

"Let me finish this and I'll go get my trunks and join you!" He kissed her and went back to finishing the patio set.

Stevie sat in one of the chairs he had put out and stared blankly over the pool, thinking about mostly nothing. The sun beat down on her and she realized she quite liked wearing her swimsuit. Lindsey made her feel sexy. Once again, she felt eyes on her. She trailed her long fingernails across her cleavage, walking her fingers down to her bikini bottoms. She closed her eyes, hoping her husband would come out of hiding and help her with her...problem, but he didn't. She sat up, looked toward the doors and saw a shadow pass by. "Linds...baby?" She stood, peeking her head inside the house. "Hmm..." She turned around to sit down again and saw a shadow now reflected in the pool, as if someone were swimming. Her body began to tingle, an eerie feeling flooding her system. "Hello?"

"What are you doing?" Lindsey asked and she let out a small yelp, jumping about a mile.

"Jesus!" Her chest heaved as she tried to catch her breath.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Who were you talking to?"

"No one" Stevie said. "I think I must be tired..."

"Makes sense, after all the love making we've been doing. Do you still feel up to a swim?"

"Yeah sure" she said. Stevie looked over the edge of the in-ground pool and saw nothing but blue water, the tiled floor and walls. She breathed a sigh of relief as Lindsey got in first.

"Come in, Steph." he said. She looked reluctant, almost examining the pool. "I cleaned it, made sure it was pristine before having it filled, I swear."

"That's not it."

"Then what is it?"

"Do you ever see things out if the corner of your eye...like, shadows?"

"Yeah, we've got shade trees, honey. The breeze blows the limbs around and makes weird shadows. Why? Does it frighten you or something?" he asked, smirking at her.

"No" she replied, clearly irritated that he was making a joke out of this.

"Nothing is going to hurt you, Steph, not with me around."

"Like I said, I'm probably just tired. Just forget I ever said anything."

"Alright. Now are you gonna come in?" She nodded and carefully came down the steps, holding tightly to the railing. She made her way over to him, tipping her head back to get her hair wet. "God, you're gorgeous!"

"Oh hush."

"Do you feel okay?" he asked, watching her survey her surroundings again.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"You just look a little pale." he continued.

"I said I'm fine. Can't we just swim? I want to talk about something else!" Stevie half-shouted.

"Okay, I'm sorry" He put his hands up defensively.

"No, I'm sorry. It's all these fucking hormones in my system, and I'm in a new place...I guess I'm just trying to acclimate."

"I understand. I'm sure I will have to deal with being on the receiving end of those mood swings more often when we get pregnant" he joked and Stevie splashed him. "Hey, no fair!"

"Oh I'm sorry, dad, did I break the rules?" Stevie pressed herself into him, wrapping a leg around the back of his thigh.

"Be careful with that daddy stuff, or you're going to be in a whole lot of trouble"

"Will I? Hmmm...that sounds like a risk I'm willing to take...daddy."

Lindsey groaned, smiling and clearly aroused by her.

"You've got some weird fantasies haven't you?" She laughed

"Don't tell me you wouldn't get turned on saying 'harder daddy'" he joked

"Well..." she winked and shrugged bringing him to herself to kiss

"We'll try it later..." he patted her bottom before trailing her round the pool by her hands, various points she was convinced that she saw shadows brush past her eyes

"What do you keep looking at?" Lindsey said stopping them

"Linds...do you believe in ghosts?"

"God, I think you should get out the sun a little, don't you?" He joked and she pushed him away

"Please don't make fun of me!" She scolded

"I'm sorry baby, but ghosts? Come on..." Stevie moved to the edge of the pool and walked up the ladders

"I will not be made to feel stupid by my own husband" she wrapped a towel around herself and sat on a lounger, facing away from him.

"Baby, come on. I was just playing with you." He got out of the pool and found a towel. "Fine, okay, I can believe in ghosts but I don't think there are any here. It's such a pretty house and has very little creep-factor" he tells her, leaning over her with his hands on the side of her lounger. She nodded, unconvinced. "Do you believe me? You loved this house when we saw it, why the sudden change of heart?"

"I do love this house" she said with a sigh.

"Why don't we take a little nap together then afterward we can make some lunch? Does that sound good?" She nodded once again, still upset but giving in to her exhaustion. "I'm sorry, I love you."

"I love you too" She gave him a half-hearted peck on the lips, getting up from the chair. She followed him inside the house, looking over her shoulder just in time to see a black shadow in the pool once more.
