“Long time no see Scout Evans.”
Startles, I dropped my phone in the sand and quickly turned to see a semi-familiar face next to me. “Shit.” I mumbled picking up my phone and brushed it off.
“Did I scare you?’ he laughed, his accent extremely noticeable now.
“No, just surprised… what do you want?” I asked gathering my belongings.
“Well, we didn’t properly introduce ourselves earlier. I was a bit rude and I wanted to apologize. Here, lets stat over,” he said holding out his hand. “I’m Michael Clifford. And you are?!”
“Leaving.” I stated, picking up my board.
“Really? Well where are we going?!”
I stopped once we reached the pavement and slipped my shoes on. “I’M going home…”
“Home?” he questioned. “But we just got here! Let me at least give you a ride home.”
“No. I’m cool.” I assured, setting down my board.
“I insist.” He smirked, stepping in front of me.

Moments later, I found myself climbing into the front seat of Michael’s truck. He drove a small gray Toyota pickup truck which was full of old Panda Express boxes and scattered CD cases. I cleaned the ground near my feet and set my stuff down.
“Sorry, she’s a bit of a mess,” he blushed climbing into the driver’s seat.
“Oh, err no worries.” I said, shifting in my seat. Michael started at me for a while, making my rather uncomfortable. “Soo… are you gonna take me to some field in the middle of nowhere and kill me? Or can I go home?”
“You sure are something else Scout Evans.” He laughed before turning on the ignition. “So where to?”
-
We pulled into my empty driveway and Michael shut off the car. “Well that was fun!’ he smiled.
“We didn’t do anything,” I said unbuckling my seatbelt.
“Hmm, well I guess we’ll have to do something more interesting next time-“
“Next time?” I questioned, quickly cutting him off.
“Sure!” he exclaimed. “What are you doing tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow? Uh n-nothing…” I said giving him a puzzling look.
“Great! I’ll pick you up tomorrow then!”
