he never really understood how bodies worked. he never really understood how characteristics worked. he didn't understand the concept of putting a 'label' on things.
so what if a girl loves another girl? so what if boys wanna wear makeup?
he never really understood; the world judges.
joshua looked in the mirror, a twirlie skirt around his waist, partaking in the color beige. his sweater was of a cotton white, maybe, or maybe not, being his best friend's.
he likes how it smells like him.
his body was, what he'd call plump, because his mother filtered out the mean words. he didn't believe in fat.
he was just, bigger. not in an unhealthy way, but he didn't like it.
after battling his mom about his weight, (she may have fought with him, because he's perfect the way he is.) she finally let him in on what people do to lose weight.
his sweets were taken away, replaced with peas. he found an exercise bike in the garage and hardly stopped.
he only snuck cookies when he felt he deserved them.
during this time period, of which the gorgeous boy wasn't fond of himself, he hardly saw his friend. they still chatted daily, but when tyler rang the phone, josh was panting, and sounding as if he were to pass out, or just beyond tired.
his brunette companion hated this. he was away from his best friend, and he didn't know what was up.
when he finally got the courage to go to josh's house, he gently knocked on the door. usually, he'd just walk in, but he didn't feel it was appropriate.
mrs. dun opened the door with a tired expression laced with guilt on her face.
"can i-"
she swayed her hand to tell him to come inside, nodding. throughout this all she still had a small smile on her face.
tyler saw josh for the first time outside of college in about a week. and even when he saw him, they couldn't talk, as it was still exam time.
he still noticed a little more of a crease in his eye bags each day, though.
the blue-haired boy's hair was becoming faded, and his sleepy expression was out of focus.
"he only stops to go to the bathroom or do homework, and i just don't know what to do," she says despair evident in her tone.
"just let me talk to him, i'll take him to a café and get him something delicious to eat, do you want anything?"
"no thanks, ty, but thank you."

he approached the boy that seemed to have taken a thirty second break.
