Josh's POV

My mom starts tearing up, making me scoff "Mom," I roll my eyes "I won't be gone that long. It's only 3 months, and if it makes you feel better, I called and they said that as long as they aren't often and are short, you can visit me!"

She smiles, but looks frustrated "Josh! You are a kid! Stop worrying about your mother! Have fun, but not too much fun!" I laugh which makes her giggle.
She looks at me one last time before letting me get out of the car. "Oh Josh, I love you so much! Just be careful! No drugs, alcohol, don't take drinks from strangers......." It's like she memorized this sentence, which most likely is the case.

I interrupt her lengthy list of rules "Mom! It's band camp, not a frat house! I'll be fine! The craziest thing I'll do this summer is sleep in on the weekends, if I can." She laughed

"Scandalous. I love you so much. I trust you, and I hope you'll be really happy!" She hugs me, longer than any old hug, she lingers a little, stalling.

"Mom, I gotta go!" She lets go and scoffs "Fine," She kisses my cheek. "I love you!" I smile back "I love you too, Mom!"

After our lengthy goodbye, I waited for her to get into the car and then ran to the main hall. I head straight for the building, making my way to the front desk. I compose myself and say "Um.. Hello. I'm Josh Dun, I was just wondering what cabin I am in, Ma'am?"

She smiles brightly, her chocolate hair with blonde highlights, slightly hanging over her face. She then quickly sweeps it behind her ear, her hazel eyes staring at me softly "Of course, honey. By the way I love your hair!" She was referring to my electric blue hair on the top of my head, hidden partially from a red baseball cap. I had finally convinced my mom to let me dye my hair for the summer, and then change it back before school started.

"Um.. thanks! I really like yours too!" I complimented her as she smiled.

"Why thank you! Now, your cabin is the red one, the one next to the cafeteria, see?" She says as we look out the window. I couldn't see it, but I said yes because I didn't want her to walk me to the cabin. I then nod saying ,"Yeah! Thank you."

I then run out to my cabin as I open the door I collide with a scrawny but athletic kid, probably one year younger than me. When we collided we both hit the ground, groaning. I just keep repeating "I'm sorry, I'm sorry..." He stands up, helping me up. He then says "It's okay, I'm Tyler, and as you can probably tell, I can't walk for crap."

We both laugh, and then he moves to the side to let me into the cabin. He follows me, showing me what's what. He rests his arm against a bed, motioning to the one next to it. "This is my bed, but if you want you can sleep on the top bunk. Also, everyone asks but yes, girls and boys do share cabins." This guy is really cool, and he seems nice. Tyler then smirks, saying "You see this," he grabs his shirt in his hands "This is friendship material, take it or leave it."

I laugh. He's really funny, I note. "I'll take it, my names Josh, and I'm kinda almost completely obsessed with the drums."

He smiles "Okay, drummer boy. How bout we sneak into the kitchen and take a couple popsicles?"

I laugh, "Sounds sick!"
