Chp.6- Don't Call Me That

"What!" I heard a voice croak from behind me.

I turned around and saw Juliette standing behind me. Her eyes were wide and I knew that I had made a mistake by telling them this, but how else were they supposed to take me seriously? They wouldn't have unless I told them this. There were some secrets you had to sacrifice in order to earn another person's trust. I hope mine was worth it.

"Partner up! Let's see what you know and what you don't," I yelled while facing back around and ignoring Juliette's question. "Today's practice will be an hour and a half long."

I heard whines and indignant yells from everyone in the crowd.

"I could always make it two hours. Believe me, I have time to spare," I said nonchalantly. They all shut up immediately and partnered up.

Forty minutes later everyone was tired and sweating. Which is ironic because the only thing they did was fight against each other. By the way they were panting and sweating you'd think I'd forced them to run a 10K marathon. These people needed to train... a lot.

I checked my clock, 5:20.

"For the next 40 minutes I am going to pair you up with people who aren't the same height, weight and age as you," I informed the people that were fighting. I saw them all open their eyes wide, but wouldn't dare protest.

"I want you to think pragmatically about this instead of acting rashly," I said. "Find your opponent's Achilles heel and use it to your advantage."

"I thought you said practice was going to last an hour," I heard a voice say from somewhere in the crowd.

I smirked at the crowd and looked at each and everyone in the eyes, "I wasn't lying when I said I had time to spear. Now remember, find you opponent's weakness. Even the mighty fall."

"Good, then you won't have a problem pairing up with me," my head snapped to the left and I saw Scott standing there with a smirk painted on his face and the stupid camera hanging around his neck.

"Not at all," I said confidently.

Although I doubted I could take down an alpha, I being the daughter of one, my ego got in the way and this was Scott we were talking about. My mate! The person I had to hate! The person who was annoying! A stalker. You get my point, I just couldn't say no.

I watched as Scott gave Jesse his Canon camera and tell him something in a hushed voice before walking towards me with a confident smirk.

"Pair up!" I yelled for the second time today.

Scott took slow measured steps as if I were a wild animal, we circled each other for someone time neither of one making a move.

"Cut the crap," I told him. "I'm not a wild animal."

"No, but you sure act like one," was his genius reply. Now we were standing face to face.

In one swift movement I swept my feet under his and knocked him down. I straddled him and pinned his arms to his sides. I lifted my right fist and slammed it next to his face in the dirt.

"Are you always this distracted?" I whispered in his ear.

"No," he said while flipping us over and jumping back to his feet. "Are you?"

Game on.

I stood back up and ran behind him, but before I could kick him in the back he grabbed my foot and threw me back to the ground. I quickly got back up and feigned a twisted foot. I knew his weak point wasn't visible to the eye nor did he have one for what I could tell. But I realized that he cared about me and I knew what his Achilles heel was. You always end up hurting those who care about you.
