Chp.16- A Cut That Won't Heal

 

The wolves were hot on our heels. I heard a growl to my right but I couldn't see anything through the dark woods. I knew Brandon had sent some of his pack members to hunt us, but if I could just get to the border of the Blue Moon Pack's territory I was safe.

The full moon was out and it was the only light that I was provided with to drive.

"Where are we?" I yelled at Abby through the roar of the wind.

She said something, but It was drowned by the howls.

"What?" I asked. I swerved left a giant wolf appeared out of no where, he almost made me crash into a tree.

"We're in a village called, Rockerfell," She said louder.

I've never heard of that place before, but it couldn't be that far away from the Blue Moon Pack or any other pack for that matter. Hopefully.

"It's about 3 hours away from the pack you were settled in," Abby said as if reading my mind.

We didn't have 3 hours, I thought. I hit the gas and the motorcycle flew. We were almost faster than any wolf. Almost, but it might be enough to get there in two hours or one, if we were lucky.

An hour later, we had lost the wolves, but not without claw marks on my shoulder. Abby, suggested that we stopped, but there was no time. I wasn't risking anything so we could get caught by any members of the Black Raven Pack.

I wouldn't admit this to Abby, but my right arm was feeling numb from the claw marks, and so was my foot where a wolf had bitten me. I didn't want to worry her, we were almost there. I could feel it.

"Raven, you need to get to the hospital fast, it's not healing," Abby said. I didn't need to turn around to know Abby was frowning at my shoulder.

I ignored her and kept driving, I could see a familiar lake in the very distance. The sun was just coming up, we would arrive in 20 minutes, the hospital could wait for another hour.

I accelerated a bit more and stopped next to the lake. We were safe. We were finally in the Blue Moon Pack's territory. We survived. I felt like crying and yelling.

"We made it Abby!" I yelled as I got off the bike and hugged her. "We're alive,we made it out of there alive."

I heard a growl from behind me.

"We won't be alive for long," I heard Abby whisper. A wolf emerge from behind the trees, I didn't know to which pack it belonged . I decided to play it safe and hopped on my bike and drove to the pack house.

Outside was Jennifer, Dimitri, my dad, Nate, Tori, Juliette, Jasper, Zeke and surprise, surprise, Scott.

Some of them looked upset, other happy and others... were crying. My dad was always an emotional person.

"Hey," I said my voice going high. I coughed and turned the bike up.

"Nathan!" Abby yelled and ran up to him and hugged him. Juliette looked over at them and smirked. She was a huge softie deep down, even though she wouldn't admit it.

I also got of the bike but kept about three feet away from them. Partly because my foot hurt and I didn't want them to know that I was limping. I looked down at my feet and when I looked back up at them I smiled sheepishly. They didn't smile back.

I limped my way to my dad and hugged him, "I missed you so much dad."

I whipped a tear from my eye and hugged Tori next. "God you're so annoying." I smiled at her and pinched her cheeks.

Nate was next, he was holding Abby rather possessively. "Thought you might miss her," I said gesturing to Abby. Nathan smiled at her and then at me. "Thanks," he said.

I hugged Dimitri, Juliette, Jennifer, Jasper and Zeke. I missed them so much.

Finally, I had to limp my way to Scott.

"You're hurt," he said bluntly. Oh, the cold shoulder.

I nodded sadly at him. "Yeah," my voice cracked. How I regret having to leave the, Scott especially. Why did I ever think Brandon could still be the same person he was a year ago.

I pulled Scott and hugged him. I cried in his shoulder and he ran his and through my hair. "I'm so sorry Scott, I'm sorry."

"So am I," he said. I lifted my head and tried to make out what he said. He looked at me sadly and I shook my head. "We'll talk about it tomorrow.

I nodded. Scott turn me around and I gasped.

"You're hurt," he gritted out.

I nodded, "escaping wasn't that easy, but we managed to leave alive... Well Abby did."

"Why isn't it healing?" Scott asked, but it sounded like he was talking to himself.

I wondered that too, but I didn't want to think about the possibilities. There were many things that could've cause this cut to not heal. "Neither is my foot." I probably shouldn't have worried Scott more, but there really wasn't an option. I was done with lying.

"What happened?" Nathan asked. I turned around and he looked from me to Abby. "Where were you, Annabella."

"Oh, so that's your real name!" Abby said clapping, happy that she finally found out my real name. Not helping at all.

"Real name?" Scott asked.

"Well, let's just say that where I was they called me Raven," I said slowly.

My dad walked up to me. "You were in the Black Raven Pack? That's impossible they're all dead."

I sat down on the floor. The bite was really starting to affect me... or maybe it was the wolfsbane.

"Anna, are you okay?" Jennifer asked kneeling next to me.

I nodded. "I never said I was there." I clutched the ground as my head spun. I saw two Scott's and clones of everyone. "Before I left." I took a deep breath.

"Anna, it's okay you don't need to tell us now," Jennifer said placing her hand on top of mine.

I shook my head.

"Anna why don't you lie down, we'll talk tomorrow," Scott said.

With the last strand of energy I had I glared at Scott and said weakly, "they gave me wolfsbane." Then I did lie down like Scott suggested. I blacked out and it was goodnight for me.
