A New Family

Chapter 9

She jumps in and I laugh. I jump in with her and pick her up. Blake and Luke come out. We go under.

Luke's POV

Me and Blake go outside. I turn up the radio they have outside. Bottoms Up comes on. I turn it up all the way. I know Haylee loves this song. She pops up and I laugh. I go get her. "No! Aunt Miranda didn't come up yet!" She yells and Blake runs down to us. He walks in and looks for her. He goes under and pulls her out. She's unconscious. Haylee begins to cry. "This is my fault. I wanted to go swimming. She didn't come up." Haylee says between sobs. I rub her back and take her inside. "Go change. We're going to the hospital." I say and she runs upstairs. I call the hospital and tell them to get a room ready for Miranda. Blake runs in and takes her to his truck. He speeds off and I go upstairs and get Haylee. I run to my truck and put her in. "Buckle up." I demand and she buckles herself in the car seat. I get in and speed off to the hospital.

**At Hospital**

I get to the hospital and wait. I sit down beside Blake. His head is in his hands. Haylee gets in his lap. "It's okay Uncle Blake. It's my fault. We were playing and she didn't come up." Haylee says and hugs Blake. He hugs her back. He's been crying I can tell. "She's going to be okay." I say to him and he nods. "Family of Miranda Lambert." The doctor says and we get up and follow him. He shows us her room and lets us go in. Blake goes in first and we follow.

"Hey baby how ya doin'?" He asks her. "I've been better." She responds. Haylee climbs in her bed and hugs her. "I'm sorry Aunt Miranda. This is my fault. If we weren't playing you wouldn't be here." Haylee says and starts crying. "No baby girl. It's okay. "I'm fine." Miranda says and rubs Haylee's back. "P-promise?" She asks. "Promise." Miranda says back. The doctor comes back in and we move out of the way. "When can she leave?" Haylee asks still laying with Miranda. "Tomorrow afternoon." He responds back. We all nod. "We have to run a few more test and you will be good. Just let me change your IV." He says and I get Haylee off of Miranda.

**Next Week**

Haylee starts school tomorrow. I start recording tomorrow. I am recording with Florida Georgia Line tomorrow. "Daddy I need your help!" Haylee yells to me from her room. I run upstairs and to her room. "Yes baby girl?" I ask. "I don't have any school supplies!" She says throwing her hands in the air. I laugh and sit on her bed. "Well let's go shopping." I say and she smiles from ear to ear. She runs downstairs. I laugh and get up from her bed. I turn her light off and go downstairs. I get down there and see Haylee on the couch waiting on me. "Come on kid let's go." I say and we walk to the truck.
