Fate is sealed

It was finally Monday morning and I was happy to be at work. Kelly couldn't stop talking about everyone's reactions to her and Roman now being an official couple. Nobody had dared say a word after Roman gave a talk this morning claiming everyone was expendable, especially if they gave Kelly any grief. Instead they was now being overly nice to her, She had become so popular in the office in one morning and it was all falseness at its finest. The attention was never on me for Dean picking me up from work Friday just gone. Nobody had said a word to m,e bout that after the Roman and Kelly weekend. I would have loved to see their faces when they walked hand in hand to the hotel. Most of my work day was spent daydreaming about what had happened over the weekend. I hadn't filled Roman or Kelly in. Especially not Roman. He would have been concerned or so I thought. The main focus of my thoughts was the way Dean was after he returned to my apartment. He didn't seem himself. I presumed he was guilt ridden. The only way I could describe it was detached and on edge. Something had bothered him but he chose not to talk about it. I did wonder if I was getting involved with something deep a little too soon. It wasn't like Dean expected me to sit and listen to all he had to say. Instead once I secretly said bye to Lisa and hung up he was allover me. He passionately took me seven times until he left later that night. Nothing rough, just gentle and somehow filled with regret. Maybe regret for grabbing me earlier that day. Sunday I spent the day alone. Watching a few sitcoms and eating ice cream all day. America has the best ice creams and nothing from back home in England could compare. I went a bit over board, eating four tubs in one day. I'd given myself brain freeze a few times during my pig out fest.

I glanced up while still deep in thought, Kai from the main office was back after having a few days off. I met him the first day I came here. He was in charge of making sure I got to my apartment and showed me around the office. Shame he couldn't show me how to find my way to work. It would have saved me getting lost for the first week. I smiled back at him, he leaned on the door frame with his arms folded over his chest. "How are you settling in? Should I really be asking?" He joked, looking around at my personal office and the job title plaque with my name on the door. I grinned cheekily to him. He obviously only just heard. "I've settled in well actually" I told him with a proud tone. I was very proud of what I had accomplished so far. I wasn't even ashamed to show it. "I just got a promotion also" My eyes lit up as he causally looked at his wrist watch. I was about to ask what his promotion was when he smirked approvingly to me and cut me short "I'm your new assistant slash secretary" I gasped in shock but so happy to have some help. Earlier in the morning Roman had told me about the heavier work load now they had taken on a ten million dollar business venture. I was close to worrying how I would get everything done. It was ok doing the hard graft but the smaller things, publishing the files, printing, arranging meetings. I was going to struggle to do it all on my own. Someone in the position just to help me made my job much easier once again. "I'm so happy for you! And myself" I laughed. "I didn't know how I was to do everything on my own". Kai moved off the door and stepped across till he could sit in the chair opposite my desk. "Mr Reigns was going to have Jan take the position but I insisted it should be me. Jan doesn't know her head from her toes" I laughed at his little dig at her intelligence. It was true, Jan was a bit lacking in the brain department. She would probably fuck up my hard work, if not by accident it would be deliberately. "I'm glad he said yes to you having the position" I admitted honestly.

Kai nodded taking in the rest of my office. There was a space at the other side from where my desk sat. As Kai peered across to the area he smirked then looked back to me. "I hope you don't mind but my desk will be put right over there" I nodded with a smile to say it was ok. Kai was a silent worker from what I had observed before he had time off. He wouldn't be a bother at all. "Good. It's settled then. Well, it was before I even got here today. So...how are you finding Vegas so far?". "I like it. It's different to England but I prefer the weather here. It's always warm which is a bonus" I honestly told him. It was true. Back in England it always rained even in the summer. It used to bug me, not being able to just go out in the heat without a coat. An umbrella was out the question, the wind always turned them inside out defeating the point. "I'm guessing you haven't really explored Vegas yet. I'd suggest the bar scene. It's more than entertaining especially in the casino's" I laughed at his suggestion. One thing I noticed about Kai immediately when I first met him was that he liked to flash money about. "I'm not one for gambling" I said in an apologetic tone. Kai raised an eyebrow at me. I knew most men and even women in Vegas liked to gamble once in a while. It just wasn't done that often in England. "I guess it must be the culture difference" Kai snuffed off in an amused tone. "It must be" I agreed. "So...Kelly and the boss huh? I never saw that coming". "Neither did I at first. They are really sweet together. Especially outside the office" I realised what I had done the second I finished speaking. Giving Kai a please don't spill expression he laughed shaking his head at my mistake. "My lips are sealed". I smiled thankful he would not mention what I just said. I knew Kai was a decent person. He wasn't one for gossiping when it could cause problems for others. "I guess I will get the guys from security to bring my desk in. I'll ask them to not disturb you too much" I laughed as he exited the office. Turning back to my work an hour later three men came in bringing the new desk in and started to set up.
