I got up and walked over to my dresser and picked out my Famous Last Words t-shirt out of one of the drawers. I also grabbed the longest and sharpest pocket knife in the drawer and some gloves but they weren't for warmth. I stuffed the gloves in my hoodie's pockets. I had three different knives, all given to me by my grandfather before he died. I think that's enough, now I gotta get going. I walked back over and turned off the light and headed out into the hall. I walked downstairs to see my parents still sitting on the couch. They looked up at me.
"You have plans or something now?" Dad asked.
"Yeah, I'm going to get together with some friends and show Christy around town," I answered.
"You just got home not even an hour ago and now you're leaving again?" Mom sounded upset.
"Yeah, I can make that decision."
"Well fine, just don't be out too late."
"Okay Mom."
I walked out the front door and made my way to my car. I got in the car, started it and drove off to Christy's house. As I drove I checked the clock constantly and by the time I reached Christy's house,it was five fifteen. I saw the curtains in one of the windows open then close. I left the car running, got out and started up the tiled path up to the front door. I knocked three times. A rugged looking man who looked like he hits the gym at least four times a week. He had a short buzz haircut and short beard. He wore blue jeans and a black muscle shirt. We were both the same height.
"You must be Christy's father," I held out my hand. "Nice to meet you sir. I'm her friend Ben."
He just stood there and looked at my hand. He then smiled a tiny bit and shook my hand.
"Name's John Greene," The man replied. "So why you wanna spend so much time with my daughter?"
"Because it's the kind thing to show her around town."
It's the kind thing to show her her around town, Jason mocked me. Sure it is.
"Hey Christy!" John turned around and shouted. "Your friend Ben is here!"
I saw Christy walk up by John. Christy was just a few inches shorter than both John and me. She wore the same skinny jeans but just a different hoodie, a red one this time.
"Ready to go?" I asked.
"Yeah let's get going," Christy answered.
We walked out to the car and got in. She looked in the backseat.
"Where are your friends?" Christy asked.
"They have their own cars," I replied. "They're going to meet us there."
"Ok, then let's not keep them waiting."
We drove off to the diner. It was not that far from Christy's house actually. We made it there in good time. I looked for a good parking spot. That's when I saw Shawn's dark blue 2013 Dodge Challenger and Angel's light blue 2011 Chevy Monte Carlo. There was a spot right in the middle of the both of their cars. I looked both ways to see if they were still in the car because I obviously wasn't looking through the big windows of the diner. I didn't see them in either car.
"I guess they're already inside," I said. "Let's head in."
We got out and headed into the diner. I looked around for the others. At first I couldn't see them, but that's when I heard Shawn call my name.
"Hey Ben!" Shawn called out. "We're over here!"
I looked over and saw Shawn, Raven and Angel sitting in a u-shaped booth in the middle of the diner. Christy and I went over to the booth.
"Christy, this is my best friend Shawn Lawyer and his girlfriend Raven Myers. Then this is my other friend, Angel Loven," I introduced them first. "Guys, this is Christy."
"It's really nice to meet you Christy," Angel said.
"Yeah I heard a little bit about you from Ben," Shawn added.
"Did you?" Christy asked.
"Yeah he did," I said as she sat down before me.
"What kind of things did you say about me?"
Well he couldn't say how good your body looked because he's a 'gentleman', Jason said.
"I told him how much you like Famous Last Words and how nice you are."
"Really?" Christy asked.
"Yeah," Shawn replied. "That's true."
We had a conversation about I don't even remember for a couple minutes before the waitress and good friend of mine came up to the table. This waitress was twenty three year old, Trisha Grimm. She had her long, blonde hair put up into a ponytail. She looked at us and smiled.
"Well look who it is," Trisha said softly, I could tell she didn't want to draw attention to anyone else but us. "Ben Grey, Angel Loven, Shawn Lawyer and Raven Myers."
Trisha then looked at Christy.
"Now who's this?" Trisha asked.
"This is Christy," I replied. "She and her folks are new to town."
"Well it's nice to meet you Christy."
"Nice to meet you too Trisha."
Trish pulls out her pad and pen.
"So what'll it be?" Trisha asked.
"I'll just have a burger, cooked like always," I replied.
"Same," Shawn added.
"I'll have a salad," Angel said.
"Same," Raven added.
"I'll have what Ben's having, same way too," Christy ordered last.
I like my burgers just a little passed rare, I hope she doesn't mind that.
"Drinks?" Trish asked.
"Water," I said.
Everyone else asked for water too.
"Ok, well I'll get your drinks while you wait for the food to be ready," Trish said.
"Ok, thanks Trish," I replied.
Trish walked off leaving us to ourselves once again.
"So Christy," Angel had that happy tone she uses a lot. "How did you like your first day?"
"It was interesting," Christy replied. "Especially in the morning."
"Why?" Shawn asked. "What happened in the morning?"
"Ben totally knocked Paul's block off," Christy answered.
"Is that true Ben?" Shawn asked.
"Yeah," I answered. "But in my defense, he had it coming to him."
"I'm just shocked. It's been since what, eighth grade since your last fight. Did you get in trouble?"
"As far as I know, Mr. Sleemer said that he will try and keep me in school."
"Well that's good."
Trish then came over with a tray with our drinks. She handed them out and walked away without a word said. We made small talk until Trish came back with our food. Yet again, she handed it out and walked away not even giving us time to thank her. I waited for Christy to take her first bite. When she didn't completely gag, I started to eat. As soon as I finished, Christy finished and got out to stand for a second.
