When we reach the house again, we enter it.
"Does your head still hurt? Should we look for a proper medical kit?" Finn asks me. I want to tell him the cut is still throbbing, but I don't want him to ransack Caroline's house just to find a bandage.
"Uh-"
Just then the door swings open and I hear Caroline yelp. I turn around and find that she has fallen in the doorway. Her eyes fall on me for a moment before she looks up at Will.
"I don't think I can make it into the lounge." She pouts. Like a child, she holds her arms up to him. A look of discomfort crosses his face but he swoops her up into his arms anyway and carries her away into the lounge.
"She's.." I begin to find a word to describe her but Charlotte beats me to it.
"Clingy?" She offers.
"Weird." Finn says. "That's why the two of them made a good couple." We giggle but I hide my smile when Will walks back through with his hair looking slightly ruffled. He looks pissed off and storms up stairs. Finn's right, they're definitely both weird.
"Caroline wants to know if you guys want to stay and watch some movies?" Harry asks after having walked in to speak to her.
"Yeah sure," Charlotte says, linking her arm through mine.
"I'll come through in a minute, I just need to go to the toilet." I say. Her and Finn both nod and walk with Colin to the lounge. I walk upstairs go into the bathroom, rustling through the cupboards to find a medical kit or some painkillers. I find a kit and open it up, picking up the item on the top, that happens to be a bug spray.
The door opens and I jump, holding the spray bottle up in surprise. "Oh, sorry, it was open." Will rushes. "Wait, what are you doing?" He walks in further and takes the spray bottle from my hand. "Insecticide?"
"I wasn't going to use it, it was on top." I gripe, snatching it back from him and putting it back in the container before rummaging in it again to find something to help my head.
"Do you even know what you're looking for?" He asks me through a sigh.
I look at him, expecting him to be smirking at me or mocking me, but he seems to be staring at my cut intently. He takes the kit from my hands and takes a few things out of it before motioning for me to sit on the bath ledge. I do so, balancing myself by placing my gripping the edge with my hands.
He takes a cotton bud and dips it in some kind of alcohol solution before bringing it towards my face.
"This might sting a little." He warns me as he begins to dab it against my injury. I notice that he's changed his shirt now. At first the solution stings but eventually it starts to numb itself.
"What made you storm up here earlier?" I ask him. He pauses his work and stares at me.
"What does it matter to you?"He questions back.
"Nothing. I just wondered if maybe Caroline said something to you or something."
"No. I'm surprised you're not mad at her. She really caught you with that ball." He tilts my head up slightly before he takes out a plaster.
"It's not like she did it on purpose. No one's aim is that good." I state. He looks quizzical but doesn't take it any further. We stay in silence until he declares his work to be done.
"You're very good at getting hurt." He informs me as we walk down stairs.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask him defensively.
"I just mean you hit your head on a cupboard this morning and now you've been hit with a cricket ball."
"Maybe I'm cursed." I sigh, walking over to the front door.
"Where are you going?"
"I just need some air. I'm going for a walk." I do want to walk, but I also really want to spend some time alone, away from Will and Catherine and even Finn.
"I'll join you." Will states. My bottom lip falls open as I think of something to stop him from accompanying me. By the time I have a reply ready, he's already outside and waiting for me. Another sigh leaves my lips and I begrudgingly walk along beside him.
The walk is quiet, disregarding the birdsong in the background. I wonder why he wanted to join me if he isn't going to talk about anything, but there's no way I'm encouraging him to talk.
"You really like solitary walks don't you?" I almost jump at the sound of his voice, having practically forgotten his being beside me. We must have been walking for a good twenty minutes. I stop and look up at him for a moment before I turn around and begin walking back. He follows suit.
"Yes. As you can see, I often find myself lost in thought when walking. It's nice to escape reality if only for a short while."
"True. So you like it here?"
"Vague question. Can you expand on it at all?" I ask.
"Well it's different to your house and your lifestyle, right? Do you like it? Could you ever see yourself living like this?"
"I said expand your question, not pummel me with hundreds more." I laugh. "I guess it's nice here but it's no life. With people doing everything for me and having no responsibilities - I think it would drive me mad."
He nods at my answer and again we drift off into our own thoughts and conversation stops. For the rest of the day we barely talk, but every time I look in his direction, I find his blue eyes fixated on me. Maybe he thinks I need to be watched in case I hit my head too hard.
