I discover that I slept in when I wake up at 10am. By the sound of things, Charlotte and Colin have already left. I sit up in bed, grabbing onto my head in pain. I'm definitely hung over. In fact, I can barely remember anything. I crawl out of bed and pull on some cloths before I drag myself to the kitchen. The kettle is already filled so I turn it on, reading the note beside it that reads: "You looked pretty rough so we let you sleep in."
God bless you, Charlotte Lucas.
I open the cupboard and stand on my tiptoes, searching for paracetamol to soother my aching head. The sound of the kettle pinging makes me duck under the cupboard door to turn it off, but a loud knocking at the door makes me jump and I slam my head into the wooden structure.
"Ow, crap." I curse, grabbing onto the back of my head with one hand and pouring the water from the kettle into my coffee-cup with the other. I then open the freezer that's practically empty aside from a box of frozen fish-fingers and grab them out anyway. I hold the box to the back of my head, hoping a miracle will occur and the throbbing might be numbed. I almost forgot someone was at the door but when it knocks again I stumble over and open it, finding a confused-looking Will.
I stare at him for a moment, sure there's something different about him, but I can't put my finger on it so I let him in.
"What the hell happened to you?" He almost laughs. My mushed up brain takes a moment to register what he's talking about.
"I banged my head on the cupboard, hence the fish fingers." I sigh, waving the box in the air as I walk back to my coffee. "I also have the worst hangover of my life." I admit.
"You and me both." He adds, following me across the room. "Let me look."
"Huh?" I ask.
"Your head, let me look."
"Oh it's fine." I shrug, pressing the cold box back to my head.
"Let me look and I might make it feel better." He states, pulling the box back from my head. "There's no blood so that's good."
When his inspection is done with I step away from him and lean back against the counter. I'm still staring at him. I can't remember much other than walking around with Finn last night.
"I thought Charlotte would be here." He says after some time. "I didn't mean to intrude."
"No no, it's fine." I say, sipping my drink.
"Colin said you were feeling pretty rough so I brought these over." He pulls out a packet of headache pills from his pocket and for a second I almost don't hate him. "They're pretty strong, I took a couple this morning and my head is practically clear now."
I take the packet from his hand and pop two of the small pills into my hand before taking them with a sip of coffee. He steps towards me, beginning to say: "I wanted to talk to you about last night-"
Suddenly, it clicks in my mind what happened and I slide the frozen box on my head down to cover my embarrassed face. "Oh god." I squeak.
"What? What's wrong?" He asks in a concerned manner, pushing the box from my face so he can see me.
"Did I dance in front of you last night? I'm so embarrassed, drunk Elizabeth and dancing do not go well together." I rush, my cheeks heating. I vaguely remember falling over and then dancing around in front of Will, trying to prove I was sober. Or maybe it was Finn? Oh god, my memory is about as good as a goldfish's. When I look up at Will, he's looking at the floor. "Well, did I?"
"Can you not remember anything from last night?" He asks me in a much more serious a tone than mine I can't tell if there's a hint of anger laced in his tone or not.
