Chapter 7
Flopping down on to my couch I let myself relax for once in the entire day. After a short silence the boy says “After all we have been through today we never exchanged names.”
“Omnium”I reply.
“So your name means of all?” he asks.
“Yeah, do you speak Latin?”
“Yes and my name is Muto, which means shifter.”
“Muto when you said you were exiled, what did you mean?”
Sighing Muto began his story, “I am one of the best trackers in Magia, and so they gave me an assignment to… kill you since the council sensed the incredible increase in your powers. Personally this was not the first assignment I had token on like this, I didn’t really phase me killing people when the council made them sound so evil. But when they showed me your picture…. I couldn’t, so I pretended to accept and allowed them to ship me off to you. I had made the decision that I would help no matter what, but I had to find you first which was really hard. I smirked at this, since I now have proof that my techniques have been paying off. When I finally found your trail I could sense extreme magic coming from you and could finally understand why the council considered you as a threat.”
“What made you want to help me?” I asked with strong curiosity
“I ….. Don’t know, my instincts just told me that nothing could happen to you. You needed help and I was the only one who could.”
Shocked that he felt this way, the feeling of deep loneliness that formed from my uncle’s disappearance was now finally gone. I realized that I had started to feel something strange and different for Muto, something that I have never felt before. But for now I had to push those thoughts away for I had one question that needed an answer very soon. What could make one of the best trained trackers in Magia suddenly feel that I needed help and protection now after all these years? That would all have to wait till morning, because I could tell that both of us were getting really tired.
“Well I’m calling it a night, you can sleep on the couch and I will get you a pillow and a blanket.”
“Alright that sounds good.”
Five minutes later, everyone is settled and in their beds. Hearing Muto asleep, only makes it harder for me to fall asleep too. The day’s events keep rolling in my head, never stopping. Finally I resort to pulling the switch which causes my leaf roof to pull apart and reveal the stars above. With the gods above watching above, I let my eyes droop close, allowing my mind to carry me to my dreams.
