Chapter 16
A paw that looked as if it were soaked in a starless night sky stretched out of the shadows and into the daylight that made it shine in the morning light. Slowly the rest of the body walked out snarling. In full view the beast was stunning. Lean strong muscles etched out along its body making it gracefully curved. The beast resembled a black panther about twice the size of Muto, who was a full grown male lion! The most unique thing about this panther was that it had a fire blazing red line that striped from the top of its nose, down the middle of its head and back as if splitting it in half, and reaching all the way to the tip of its tail. When it released a half growl and roar, I snapped back into reality and got ready to fight. Maybe I could spare this beautiful animal, train it to be tame and help me with hunting. All things should have a second chance at living; it may not even want to kill us. That’s when I remembered when I the one time I did this spell where I cured a rabid animal by sucking out the disease and release it into a dead tree. The animal lived with me for the rest of its life as thank you. If I try to suck out the bad energy/sickness I could possible cure this poor animal, it is worth a try. Before I could inform Muto not to kill us, it charged. Talking long strides, it leaped aiming for our throats. Muto and tumbled out of the way at the last second causing the panther to smash its thick head in to the side of a house. I scramble to get some more distance in between us before it came to again, but Muto had other plans. Creeping up behind it, Muto leapt on to the sleek, giant back of the animal and bit down hard on the side of its neck. Hot, vibrant red blood gushed out of the wound as the panther let out a hideous high pitched shriek that would have made anyone in ten miles fall to the ground in pain. The beast swung its head back and forth with so much force that it flung Muto through the air and smash into the side of the bell tower. The panther ran towards Muto with a look of pure revenge and anger in its neon green eyes. “NOOOOO” I screamed, I felt adrenalin pump its self throughout my body. That’s when I felt it, the feeling of pure magic. I pumped my energy by the gallons into the ground, my vision clouded over with a hint of green. I was barely able to see but I let the earth guide me, I felt my stomach ache as I made marker thick vines grow up out of any crack between the paved brick ground. I let the vines grow until they were the length of a two story building. “YOU WILL NOT TOUCH HIM!” I scream, I shoved my hands out in front of me in the direction of the panther. The vines obeyed my command by snaking through the air at incredible speed and snatching the panther as it was in midair, inches from landing onto Muto’s unconscious body. The panther thrashed, kicked and slashed at the vines, but they didn’t budge. I forced the vines to slowly squeeze the panther as I made them bring it in front of me. How dare this panther attack this village and nock Muto unconscious, it will pay! That’s when felt the feeling of power in my soul strengthen. Suddenly my vision was tinted slightly with blue and I smelled a huge storm coming. Then it started to pour down raining. Rain drops the size of quarters smashed down against my skin leaving a slight stinging afterwards. Fear then stroke the panther, then it shifted it gaze to me and I no longer was in the village but in an office. A tall, bald man in a black suit seemed to be casting some dark spell. Evil energy rolled off of this man, in strong waves as I realized his finished creation was the panther. “You will find Omnium, kill her as quickly as possible, if you fail to do so, kill all the things she loves. She must be illuminate, since she is too much of a threat. We have already killed off all the others; she is last one left that stands between us and our plans. The Muto boy should have found her by now, but since he has taken so long I have to send you out to kill her. Do not fail me or I will bring you back from the dead and punish you in such sever ways that you will wish I never had.” he said, his deep and gravelly voice sent ghostly chills down my spine. Suddenly I could see clear again, the storm was gone but the vines were still squeezing the panther. It looked utterly exhausted as its breaths were just scratchy gasps. Feeling bad for the panther I let go of the powerful magic and rushed over to the limp body as the vines sunk back into the earth. “Here, drink this” I whispered as I scooted the massive head over to a puddle. The panther drank weakly with a look of tameness in its eyes. I pushed its head on to my lap when it was done and put my hands on its forehead. I used the last bit of energy I had, and sent energy into it to heal its wounds from the inside out. Dizzy I saw that the panther had passed out, my body once again went limp as faintly heard someone calling my name
