"You want me to what?" The doctor asks.
"Look at my heart," I repeat as I swing my legs on the hospital bed I am sitting on.
The doctor looks at me with furrowed eyebrows. "Beta Jonah, it's impossible for something to be wrong with your heart,"
I shake my head quickly. "It kept jolting last night,"
"Jolting?"
"Yeah, like at the most random times it would jolt. It didn't really hurt, it was more like, like," Like what? What was it like?
"All right, I will listen to it," The doctor says as he pulls the stethoscope from around his neck. "Lift your shirt please,"
I do as told and pull my shirt completely off. The metal of the stethoscope is cold against my chest but it doesn't bother me. My jolting heart does bother me though. It hasn't jolted this morning but last night when it was concerns me. My heart shouldn't be jolting, maybe the poison did something to my heart after all.
The doctor removes the device from my chest and shakes his head. "Your heart sounds normal, Beta Jonah,"
I shake my head and chew my bottom lip. "No, hook me up to something, I don't know, but it was jolting and it really is starting to freak me out,"
The doctor nods his head. "I can hook you up to an EKG and see if it catches anything, but it's highly unlikely,"
"I don't think so, I think it will catch it," I say confidently.
The doctor moves around the bed I am sitting on and messes with a machine. "Will you lay down please?"
I nod my head and swing my legs onto the bed and then lay back. The doctor then attaches wires to my chest with sticky pads. I don't really care what he is doing, as long as he figures out why my heart keeps jolting.
"Okay, you're all hooked up, if your heart jolts the EKG will be able to catch it," The doctor says. "Could you tell me what you were doing when it first started?"
I nod my head as I look up at the ceiling. "I was playing a board game with my mate, Abram, and Trigg. My mate, Micah, his phone went off but he didn't want to answer it because it was his sister, so I answered it instead," I chew my bottom lip as I go over the conversation I had with Sawyer the night before. "Sawyer called to tell Micah that their dad died, but also about a school reunion coming up," My heart jolts suddenly. "It just did it!" I say as I look at the doctor who watches the EKG machine.
"I saw that, your heart did fluctuate," His brows are furrowed as he taps his chin with a finger. "Tell me more, when did it fluctuate again?"
"Uhm," I bite my bottom lip. "I don't know, it did it a few times when Sawyer and I were talking. But then I went home with Micah and we were talking about the reunion and-," My heart jolts.
"And?" The doctor presses.
"And Micah didn't want to go but I think I convinced him,"
The doctor hums. "So, this reunion," I groan as my heart jolts. "It is where?"
"Florida," I grumble.
"And you haven't met Micah's family before?"
"No,"
"Not even anyone that will be at the reunion?"
I grip the side rails of the bed tightly as my heart jolts. "No," I say through clenched teeth.
"Jonah, you said this jolting of your heart didn't hurt last night, is it hurting now?"
I shake my head. "No, it's just really annoying,"
