I fixed Emily's closet door that had fallen out of its slider, then I tightened the doorknob on the back door when I realized it was loose. The doorknob wasn't on the list but I decided to take care of it anyway. I have no idea what Micah is up to, he told me he was going to go to a store with Sawyer and that he wanted to spend some quality alone time with her too. So, I've just been fixing things around the house.

I look at my list to find the outside chores left, Emily had quite a few things on the list. I nod my head as I take the red toolbox and go out the front door. I find Emily sitting on a lawn chair with another woman. I don't pay much mind to them as I go around the house to the shed that Emily's list said were extra tools and wood that I might need.

I grab a plank of wood, the hand saw, some clear safety glasses, and then go back around the house. I set my newest gear down and then pull out the tape measure from the toolbox. As I measure the wood of the broken step I start to sweat. Damn, Florida weather is a beast, nothing like Minnesota. It's about ninety-eight degrees out and muggy as hell.

I groan as I pull my sweaty shirt off and toss it over the railing of the porch. Then I measure and mark the plank of wood to the length I need it to fit the step. I move further down the porch so I can cut the plank without the saw dust hitting Emily and her friend. I don't feel like having to stop because I got saw dust in someone's eyes.

After I cut the wood I take it back to the porch steps and start to pull out the nails so I can get the step with a gaping hole out. I glance up as I hear chatter, only to find about ten new people. All woman. Each woman has something too, and from the scents I am getting they are mostly desserts. Damn, does Emily always have this much company in her front yard? And do they always bring such yummy smelling food with them too?

I shake my head and look back to the project at hand. I want Micah to come back because I feel extremely awkward with all these women around, some of them look to be around mine and Micah's ages too. I can feel the many stares as I work, I try to ignore them but it is extremely difficult.

I pop the new step into place and then pound the nails in. I wipe my forehead with the back of my hand to catch the sweat that was threatening to fall into my eyes before I pick up the rest of the wood that I didn't use and the hand saw and take them back to the shed. Then I pick up the supplies to fix the stepping stones, as well as a white paint canister and brushes to fix the chipping railing.

As I return to the front of the house I notice more woman have shown up, as well as Micah and Sawyer. My eyes immediately find Micah sitting on the grass next to his mother eating a cookie, Human rolled onto his side dozing off. He doesn't notice me at first so I take the opportunity to appreciate how beautiful he looks with the sun acting as his spotlight. Sitting next to Emily and Sawyer I can see the resemblance in all three of them, Micah and Sawyer definitely got more of their mother's beautiful genes.

I smile and set my supplies down next to the first wobbly stepping stones. Micah looks up and smiles at me, I smile back and then go back to the shed to grab an old paintbrush that I saw. As I return I notice Micah is now holding his youngest niece, Shashi.

Fuck, he is so handsome holding a baby. It really makes me want to start a family with him every time I see him with a child.

"Hey, baby," I greet over our link as I get to work on fixing the stepping stones.

"Hey," He replies back cheerily.

"I thought you'd be gone longer," I laugh over the link.

"I was gone for three hours," He laughs back.

"Really? Felt longer than that,"

"And you thought I'd be gone longer?" He laughs.
